I would just like a pay as you go basic mobile phone, only to make calls and to receive calls in an emergency, I don't use it to chat. What would be the best one for me, anyone?

  • I'd suggest a Nokia 1112

Its a current phone, monochrome display, great battery life.

Just search in Google for Nokia 1112, its showing this morning at £8.95 when bought with £10 airtime on Virgin.

Yep, I'd say go for it, or the 1110 which has a talking clock if you want to be a bit gimicky. It's very light, very simple to use, has a couple of games for those bored moments on buses or when waiting for the lift and battery life is awesome. Some derivatives also have a really nifty flashlight that don't often appear on the newer high end models.

    Hope that helps.

I'm also after a basic phone but want to send it to India as a gift for a friend. So it must be able to work over there and be able to accept an indan sim card.
Will an unlocked phone be enough to work with a foreign sim or is there additional work required?
So does anybody have any suggestions for he cheapest phones that fits my requirements. Maybe the nokias listed above will work abroad or do they need to be 3G?
