Virgin media monopoly

I have just moved in a flat where I can only get Virgin media and I believe it is not fair. An engineer that came originally to install talktalk broadband (which offered a far more better deal for me), told me I can only get virgin media as a broadband provider. I have fees as well on the top of the monthly contract for a year (none with talktalk). So I wonder what can be done?? As I am guessing next year I would have the following options:
I would have to either renew a contract with V.M or not getting internet at all.
I think it is not right as well.
Any ideas on what to do?
Thank you

Not a lot you can do. Sounds like one of the properties that only have fibre connections rather than copper, so at present the only provider that can operate on that network is Virgin. I seem to recall a friend moving into a new estate that was in the same situation. So unless you want to pay Openreach to cable from their nearest network point to your property, you're stuck with Virgin (clue it will cost you more to get it cabled than it will cost you in a good few years extra monthly costs on Virgin!).Adventure before Dementia!0

Yes it seems difficult to find a solution about this. (I am looking around and see other people in the same position). It just shows how big corporations work...
thanks for the reply.0 -
It's got very little to do with Virgin being a "big corporation". They only enjoy a "monopoly" in your block of flats because other providers have not bothered to provide competition. It just shows how big corporations work...
