EasyJet Ticket Surname Change

A generous friend has bought my partner a ticket assuming she uses my surname, but her passport has her maiden name

The flight is in six weeks time

Has anyone succeeded in changing the surname on an EasyJet ticket?

If so any suggestions as how to approach customer support?

Call them with your booking reference and explaim the mistake. If within 24 hours of booking, probably no fee. They open at 8am.

    According to customer services
    • Change can only be made by the original purchaser
    • Cost is £65

It would have been far to stressful for our friend to attempt to change the surname

Instead is was easier and cheaper to buy a new ticket, and if everything works out the booked seat means we should have an empty seat between us

Seats are for real passengers with boarding cards who check in, pass through security and are checked through the gate. If it’s a busy flight, the seat will be occupied especially since easyJet is an overbooking airline.

Thanks, I didn't realise EasyJet routinely overbook

I will of course ensure the misnamed ticket is checked in, but you're right there won't be anyone to use it at the gate...

If asked, what passport details will you give?

I suppose, in theory the passport details could be just made up

They don't. It's only on a select few routes and even then not always.
