Hope Mr F alright, and that you don't catch it. Take care x4

Thanks for your well-wishes. I've had quite a productive day. Obviously we didn't go for the outing we'd planned & without wanting to sound mean, I've kind of got on with stuff in different rooms from Mr F & in the garden, in the hope of avoiding it. He's got no energy at all (most unlike him) & has spent the day on the sofa watching films. I've managed to get 2 loads of laundry almost dry, have rounded up a big colander full of tomatoes from my 2 tomato-ripening stations (shall need to deal with those in the next day or two), picked another bowl of pears - now poached with cinnamon, sugar & lemon & declared by Mr F to be soothing for sore throats. Also cut our last 4 peppers & prepped & froze a couple of those. Did a few garden jobs....just felt good to be in the fresh air & not indoors breathing in lergyfied air. I've cracked on with typing out my genealogy project this afternoon.
Today, it is 5 years since my Dad died. I simply can't get my head around how quickly that time seems to have gone. I think it is because we had barely got Mum into a routine of support/visits, etc - she'd only been on her own for 9 months when she had the accident that landed her in hospital, followed by an entirely separate medical emergency from which she never recovered. Then, another year dealing with the house sale/legal stuff, & then 2 years of the pandemic.......My goodness, the time has flown, but it still feels relatively recent that I had the call to say I needed to come & say final goodbyes to Dad - the devastating lung disease IPF, which he'd managed for as long as he could, finally got him in the end. I mark Mum & Dad's birthdays positively....birthdays are a nice day for remembering people - I usually bake something, as they both loved my cakes & scones, but the dates when they were lost to us are still very much in my internal 'diary'. I've not had a sad day though, just thoughtful.
Well m'dears, I'd like to sign off by sayng I don't have even the hint of a glimpse of a symptom, but as the afternoon has progressed, my throat has become scratchy & I can feel my chest starting to tighten up, as for a cold or similar lergy. Reckon I'm going to test positive tomorrow morning.
Ah well, let's see what Sunday & that little plastic gizmo brings.....
Take care all,
F x

Hope you both feel better soon. OH and I finally succumbed at the end of July, after avoiding it for two years4

@foxgloves I do hope you both feel better soon. It might even be the change of season in your case...I find sore throats are very common in the autumn. If not, this round seems mild from what I'm hearing. Are there any gentle jobs you could do to keep enjoyably occupied? Love Humdinger xx5

I hope you both feel better soon and it treats you lightly.

Oh Foxgloves what a pain about a covid in the house. We both consider ourselves very lucky to have gone through to this spring without having been afflicted, and similarly fortunate that when we did get it although not by any stretch pleasant, it could have been an awful lot worse too. Hopefully Mr F (and you if your scratchy throat IS a precursor to a positive) will get off suitably lightly.
Also, love the idea of the significance of birthdays being marked positively after someone dies with a specific thing like baking that the person would have loved. It’s such a lovely idea to turn a milestone in each year which so many people view as “bad day” after the person who owned the birthday is no longer around into something good. Anniversaries and notable days are so hard though. It felt odd this year having a birthday card and presents just from my Mum - and with the same to come again at Christmas. It must have felt even tougher for Mum, just writing her own “Mum” without “& Dad” to follow.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yes, love the plan of celebrating significant days of departed loved ones. Putting pain to positive use is good for us. Love Humdinger xx5

I always have yellow flowers in the house for my Mums birthday on New Years day. She loved the spring hence yellow. I only buy flowers twice year. Red for Christmas and then Mums so at the start of the year I have 2 lots which is nice. Why do I have them rather than taking them to the garden of remembrance. Mum always said they are no good there fllowers should be with the living not those that have gone.10

Am definitely lergyfied. Tested negative last night despite symptoms. Intend to test again tomorrow morning. Feeling pretty grim atm. Have taken some cold & flu capsules & have retired under crochet blanket with a hot water bottle & my book.
Mr F says he feels fractionally better than yesterday but it's difficult to believe, given the amount of hacking going on. I have woken up sounding like I've been on 40 fags a day, tight chest, bad cough & aching all over.
Ah well, whatever it is.....& It will be a huge coincidence if I have a different lergy 2 days after Mr F went down with Covid, lurking around on here moaning about it isn't going to do me any good, so will leave you to more cheery diaries.
