Put away your purse & become debt-averse

Sounds like a nice day Foxgloves. I need to get back into the habit of fridge triage myself - I keep throwing lots of things away again at the moment and that's not good for my purse or the environment.
I just bought apples for ds from Mr M. They have removed all plastic bags from the fruit and veg section and replaced them with environmentally friendly paper bags. 2 golden delicious into the bag and they fell straight through the bottom. Seriously - the new bags couldn't even hold the weight of 2 apples. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Had to smile at the shonky bags, CCL. When I was in Mozzers' fruit & veg section the other day, there were no bags at all! An assistant explained about the decision to get rid of the plastic ones & replace with paper ones. I said I absolutely 100% supported that as I can compost them.......so where are they, please? He said 'We haven't got any. We're only allowed to order 2000 a week".
I am thinking of buying a set of Lakeland's net bags for loose fruit & veg. I think they are around £6 - a set of various different size ones which all fold into the big one & I think they have a bit where you can stick the label you get when you've weighed them. I'd make some myself if I could a)be bothered & b) had an old net curtain to cut up.
I throw virtually no food away. I found a lemon growing blue fur the other day & really should have been offered a swear box! I take it as a personal failure, lol! You'll get into new routines as this new chapter of your life establishes & that will include all sorts of renewed frugal behaviours. Little steps & all that..........

Sounds like the perfect day,I'm hungry now though:rotfl:
I'm going to investigate my local Mr M when I get paid on Thursday,I need to find somewhere cheaper to shop than Mr S
I do like the sound of the net bags from Lakeland,I will have to investigate,I'm in desperate need of some fruit and veg so I'm going to walk into town after work tomorrow and nip into the veg shop, they still use paper bags:)
Edited to add.... I forgot to say I have a cheeky robin in my garden who goes and pinches the chicken food when the run door is left open,if I put any mixed corn out for them on the patio he comes down and joins in with eating itOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1200 -

Awww, thanks DNMS. Another 2 stressful things have hit our household too, in the last few days so I'm afraid I'm still pinging awake at 4 a.m & stressing for 3 hours. I just keep telling myself it will all pass. When I get back to a semblance of normality, I'm sure my frugal lists will start again xx2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Ok, a few words of wisdom from me to all crafters:
Use up your craft stash & get those projects finished.
My sis, nephew & I are on our 3rd day of sorting out Mum's craft stash. It is actually a borderline 'hoard'. I have never seen so much craft stuff actually outside of 'Hobbycraft'. We have selected the things we want, my nephew's had a couple of kits, I've taken books & mags for ebay, we've divided the best stuff up into bundles for Mum's crafting friends & a local club, we're going to offer all her pillow-lacemaking gear to a lace group. Honestly, I've never seen so many beautifully started (Mum's needlework skills were amazing) but unfinished projects. There must be thousands of pounds of stuff. And sadly, there is SO much, that we have had to throw a lot away, though some things have gone to charity shops. Time is limited as neither of us live locally & we don't have room to store vast boxes of stuff in our own homes until we have time to bundle up for sale. This has been an eye-opening experience for both of us, as we've both overspent on materials in the past. So use up those craft stashes m'ducks & get all those lovely projects finished. Don't let your stash turn into a scary hoard!!
Hope everyone reading is ok. I'm ready for my life to get back to normal asap.

A good lesson foxgloves. I'm quite good at finishing projects but have a good stash of material that I need to use up.
Have just made covers from a piece of thickish cotton for my DD's fresh and waste water containers for her caravan. She'll be getting these as part of her Christmas present. It's a win:win as she wants the covers and I've used up some fabric that I really didn't have a particular use for!

I hold my hands up, as I am indeed guilty of buying loads of stuff I intend to use, but never get around to actually doing it!
Hope you can get back to 'normal' as quickly and painlessly as possible ((hugs))I Believe.....

Oh god this is me,I have banned myself from buying any craft supplies until I have finished everything I already own,it's going to keep me busy for a couple of years I reckon
We have a scrap store here that you can donate craft stuff to and they give it out to groups plus the public can access it and buy supplies too if it's not too late and you have anything left it might be worth seeing if there is anything like that in your areaOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1200
