Yes, @Blackcats, that's not one of my driving strengths either. It wasn't part of the test when I learned to drive so I never really properly learned how to do it. I never attempt it in small parking spaces or if particular neighbours are watching. I know I will go off on one if I hear any 'women drivers' - type of comments, you see. Chopin piece not so bad. Had large glass of wine on top of piano so ceased to care! This could be a strategy!

I used to be able to parallel park, then I bought a smaller car and lost the ability and for the 25 years I have gone out of my way to not need to parallel park. My Mum on the other hand is an expert at parallel parking but doesn't have any faith in her ability 😕Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Foxgloves and Baileys Babe - I really thought it was just me and the parallel parking problem! When I was learning to drive I was ok at 3 point turns and never skilled at reversing round a corner. I sort of slalomed my way round, because I easily lost track of which way my wheels were going. Luckily it is very easy to avoid ever having to reverse
round a corner. OH always jokes when I sell a car - 1 careful lady owner, reverse gear never used.5 -
My cousin bought me a book called something like 238 things a bright girl can do. It has a section on just this and it has transformed my life; I used to be a trembling wreck and now I enjoy it esp when I see bumptious men expecting me to get it wrong...wipes the grins right off their faces. Let me see if I can find it and will post here if so. Love Humdinger x8

Can I ask what sort of heated airer you have and if you rate it? I'm looking at buying one and the reviews all seem so varied.

Interesting that even among generally confident & assured people, reverse parallel parking avoidance is a thing. I didn't much like reversing round a corner either while I was learning, @Blackcats. I am not proud of this, but I was a much stronger character than my driving instructor, so he'd tell me to pull in, ready to prepare to reverse round the corner into a side road & I'd have a good look at it on the way past & if it wasn't the sort of corner I 'liked', I'd keep driving & say 'Actually i don' t fancy that one, I'll do another one instead'.

Hello Sunday Savers,
Busy morning as we began moving furniture & a ton of books out to another room as part of the pre-decorator clearing process. The enormous sofa & armchair did fit through the front door without gouging a newly plastered corner of hallway so they are ready for collection midweek. Garden pickings = Large bunch of basil, which I've made into 3 pots of pesto.
We've synchronised our diaries for the coming fortnight as Mr F has a very busy period coming up at work, while here on the home front, it is possible I could be juggling decorator, builders & the chap who is coming to sort out the 'swallowed 🐸 problem' simultaneously, as well as needing to consider & discuss two further quotes. I have a lot of garden produce which needs using & need to do a bit of number crunching on our home improvement budget. I also have the last items to knit/finish which I promised for the charity stall & will want to continue with seasonal garden clearing.
So I think I will aim to be very organised, realistic & aim for a mega productive week ahead.
Dinner is in the slow cooker so I think I'll build myself up for my busy week by relaxing with my book. Looking forward to next episode of 'Vigil' tonight.

@Jellytotts - Mine is the tower one from L*kel*nd with the 3 hanging racks which can be arranged in various ways, depending on if you are drying things vertically or flat. I wouldn't be without one, as although I line-dry whenever possible, I don't have a tumble-dryer & have no intention of buying one. I think the price has gone up since I bought my heated airer. I think we paid in the low £80s, but I think I had a £5 voucher so even rhat would have reduced it a little. My feeling is that if my heated airer conked out tomorrow, I would replace it asap.
