DawnW - Yes, I agree. I like pickled chillies, but just not these ones - a very specific variety which made glorious jam but turned out to be vileness incarnate when pickled!

You sound like you have lots of things flowering in your garden at the moment Foxgloves. I'm thinking of putting my daffodil and tulip bulbs in the border once they've finished flowering, although I worry about digging them up when we do weeding. How do you avoid doing that if that's not a silly question? There are so many varieties of daffodils and I love the idea of collecting new ones every spring 🙂 .
This is such a lovely time of year and we have a bit more freedom now, although hopefully people won't abuse it and make the virus levels shoot back up 🤔.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Well, I do sometimes dig them up by accident, HHoD, but I just pop them back. It would only be a problem if you speared one badly with a garden fork, or chopped one in half.
I am also hoping the idiots (including in government) don't do more silly things which result in Covid rates shooting up.

Hi Foxgloves & Gang and a happy Easter to you all. Hasnt the weather been lovely. Ive painted the fencing in the front garden(neighbours fence i might add plus the posts are in our garden and not in theirs) hubby has been out the back finished sorting the pump out and now sorting through all his Bonsai trees. Tomorrow I'm going to start painting the fencing, gates and laundry room. Its all painted in blue. have loads of bulbs that didn't get planted last October, I'm thinking of planting them now ready for next spring? Well the idiots have been out in force this hot weekend. Hmm I can see another lockdown coming if they are not careful. I have been reading your diary Mrs F just not commenting at the moment as lots going on here. Hi Pixiehouse, nice to hear from you. Yes, re Covid, people really need to avoid behaving like kn*bheads (including government) - It should be a warning to us all that Europe is heading into a 3rd wave. It's such a worry. I want to be cautious, but not overthink every outing to the enth degree. It's going to be about finding a sensible balance, isn't it, as things open up.

Morning chocolate bunnies!
Anyone got snow? We had a few flakes drift down first thing, but although (to quote my Gran) "the sky looked full of it", it soon brightened & is now blue. There is a bitter wind though. Mr F put his fleece on & ventured out to continue wrestling out the problem ivy, but promptly about-turned after only five mins, saying it was so cold he already couldn't feel his hands. He is not a chilly mortal - I often have to insist he takes a coat when he goes out - so that shows how arctic the wind is.
I've been down to the greenhouse to check on my plant babies, have been soaking red wine out of a tablecloth, drinking coffee & eating cake. I have loaded the washer for tomorrow morning (supposed to be dry here after a night of minus 3°) & spent the rest of the morning dealing with rubber lamb from yesterday's lovely roast. I've chunked up the majority of it for making lamb bhuna later, have put aside some for filling flatbreads tomorrow with some spicy veg & salad, filled a cob for tomorrow's packed lunch (with leftover stuffing too & some mustard grown on kitchen window sill). Then some with other leftovers (veg, gravy, last spoonful of bramble jelly) frozen ready for when Mr F gets the urge to concoct another Epic Man Stew. Bones & everything else in slow cooker for stock. Lamb was £25 but as I am aiming for 4 portions of curry, the stew will likely do 3 portions & some of the stock could well become the basis of some soup at some point, I am pleased with what we will have got out of it - 12 portions, not counting any soup.
Planning to read later. Also trying to step up the knitting as I don't want this bedspread to take all year. I will want to knit some presents too.
Right, must crack on. Enjoy your Easter Mondays, everyone.

We had a flurry of snow here in the bottom.of God's own county about 6am but gone by 8. There is a cold wind as had been forecast so doing indoor jobs after doing and dropping off dads shopping. It's sunny but very cold6

OBL & Tescodealqueen - Yes, same here. Looks so sunny & bright but blows straight up your nethers as soon as you step outside! Brave chickens for sallying forth!
Well, so much for a relaxing afternoon of beginning reading a new book & knitting my bedspread! Somehow, Mr F & I talked ourselves into making a start on clearing out the loft!! I have already sorted & got rid of two boxes & 2 bags, added more stuff to the charity shop pile & offloaded four vintage family items to my sister. More to tackle tomorrow. Mr F has finally come to the conclusion that the loft does not need to look like a tech graveyard & is formulating a plan to move it out. He has also shifted some unwieldy metal items to our drive in the hope that the scrap metal dealers will spot them & save us a trip to the tip.
Have inhaled a lot of dust & probably ancient dessicated bees, so am just having a little sit down with a cold drink, then I am off to play my audiobook in the kitchen while I strain the fresh lamb stock & make the bhuna.
I am tired but am in serious decluttering mode now. Bring it on!

Hi Foxgloves, another productive day for you! We did wake up to snow which soon melted. -2 in the night. We decided to get togged up and go for a long walk today and I've also cooked a lamb dinner (Just half a leg though) and sticky toffee pudding and cleaned the house so I'm now seriously flagging! Still need to bathe the little one and hopefully get him to sleep at a reasonable time. You're very brave to tackle the loft, they always are so full of random cr*p aren't they. Really feeling the need to de-clutter as well, must be a spring thing! I can't wait for the charity shop to open.
