I love your pond and heron SA. Foxgloves I fully empathise with your Father Jack moment when he realises he's still on the "!!!!!! island" 😬. I know I go to school so I'm luckier than most, but my routine of school home, school home, school home is getting tedious and I long to go somewhere different. I think I get bored easily and like variety in my life, plus knowing I can't go somewhere is bound to give me an urgent desire to go there.
I find gardening very soothing too and it's something we can control to some extent, it's our own little kingdom. It's a shame your bike ride was rained off but at least we're into spring now so better weather should lie ahead 🙂 .Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Thanks for your comments, which I always enjoy reading.
@Sun_Addict - Your pond looks great. They are such a lovely addition to a garden. I do actually have a decoy heron. I'm very fond of him. He lived in my Mum & Dad's garden & I brought him home with me when we were sorting the house out. He worked well as a decoy for a year, but then the herons returned. They usually lose interest after frog 🐸 breeding season, so I have to put an improvised mesh covering over the deep end until then.
@HHoD - Yes, as a gardener, I count March as 'early Spring' & it does help the lockdown blues to see flowers starting to bloom. Like you, I miss visiting all our favourite places for walks, history, coffee & picnics.

Greetings m'dears,
A pleasant & positive session out in the garden this morning. Mr F continued with concerted problem ivy removal. I cleaned up the greenhouse & sowed more seeds. The calendula & rudbeckia I sowed a couple of weeks ago are busy germinating. Today I've sown Cosmos, cornflowers, poached egg plant, larkspur (one of my favourites), ragged robin & hollyhocks. Also made a start on cutting back & forking over my herb bed. Was pleased to see that my Welsh onion has come back strong after a bad attack from allium leaf miner pest a couple of years ago.
I enjoyed just simply walking around looking at early Spring flowers. Still quite a lot of snowdrops, mini daffodils (tete a tete), Mum's winter iris has another 4 buds about to pop into purple petalled loveliness & my hellebores are looking good. One that belonged to my Mum has several flowers & I know she'd be pleased I rescued it.
I could do with a productive week ahead. We have accepted a quote from a local painter & decorator so will be booking dates, I still have a workman to chase, i need to go into town, to update budgets, to carry on with garden progress, step up my exercise to ensure success next Weigh-day, sort out March's birthdays & finish various projects.
Not much more to do today though. Mr F is alternately watching 'Stingray' & roasting a chicken. I am going to read, knit & not think about biscuits.
Definitely ready to embrace a week of enhanced productivity. Who's with me?

We have a decoy heron. Its a beutiful bronze coloured one but we have had to take it away because our stupid dogs insist on climbing on the rockery by the pond and they are in danger of knocking it flying. We bought it in China and then had to ship it home so it is irreplaceable. It sits in the conservatory as although decorative not much use as a heron scarer so we have had to net the pond.

I’ll join you in the increased productivity. We’re having our bedroom totally refurbished so desperately in need of a declutter as it needs completely emptying 😱I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8

I think my heron might be bronze, @Ladyholly, I'm not sure to be honest.
@FourSeasons - Nothing like moving house to focus the mind on a damn good clear-out!
@Sun_Addict - Ok, let's go for that virtuosic week of productivity. I think I will aim to get lots of regular chores done & out of the way tomorrow, then write out a schedule of other tasks for the rest of the week. Feeling quite motivated.
