OBL - I think it can be harder with more elderly people, as they've usually amassed a fair bit of stuff. I usually love Christmas, but it does feel different this year. We can, of course, only influence the bits of it that are still under our control, so I'm going to try & concentrate on those because there is absolutely nothing I can do about Covid or the mishandling of it. I've got some Christmas piano music out to learn so maybe that'll put me in the mood.

Hello diary readers,
Up bright & early this morning as decided I might as well fill in our turkey order form & drop it off at the village butcher. Had to go anyway to buy a sack of potatoes. 🥔 🥔 were £4 less than last time, when I think there were mutterings of a shortage. So £10 a sack & they will last us ages.
Town for fresh fruit & veg on the market, plus some mealworms for our robin who has been disgusted this week to discover only peanuts in our feeders. Treated ourselves to a couple of yummy cakes from tiny indie bakery. At least they are allowed to stay open. I really feel for the small businesses which have had to close.
Two hours working in the veggie garden. Took climbing bean plants down & dug over the beds, then harvested final punnet of spring onions & radishes. Bean & radish dregs not good enough for human consumption gratefully received by the wiggly residents of our worm composter. Sooooo much to do in the garden atm, but it's not like I'm going anywhere this month. I will do an hour or two each day & the fresh air & physical activity will be just what I need.
Mr F is up the ladder painting the kitchen ceiling. Piano practice for me, then a welcome bubble bath & I need to progress the snuggly throw I'm knitting for my friend tonight. Enjoying watching 'DNA' so will either watch tonight's episodes of that or a film.
Enjoy your evenings, all.

Chrystal said:It sounds like a horrendous situation with J Pixie. I guess they think you're Superwoman and can cope with him much better than they can in hospital!
I've been hearing quite a lot of 'very bad' situations regarding hospital discharges recently, and they don't really give one confidence in what's going on.
I hope you can get it sorted to your satisfaction when you speak to your coordinator. Sending gentle (((hugs))) X
Talking to someone went on death ears!! But she has promised to get his banding changed, at the moment he is 24/7. Shattered. More and more changes on the regs and what we can and can't do.Mortgage free September 2021. Narrowboat brought October 2021

foxgloves said:Pixiehouse55 - I agree with Chrystal - a difficult situation for you. I suppose yours is the kind of work role where it is OK when your people are well & happy, but can get tricky & stressful when things go awry. Maybe if J is elderly too, as well as v poorly, he may be reaching a stage where he requires more care than you can reasonably give him. I hope it is helpful talking to your co-ordinator.

It sounds like a good and productive day Foxgloves. Your gardening must have burnt a few calories and it's good that you can still harvest a few things in November. I expect the result of a certain election cheered you up too. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Yes, very little to pick now, HHoD. Still a few apples at the top of the tree which will provide a few more windfalls. I have a bit of mizuna, the last clump of rocket, a few dregs of spinach & sorrel and a few celeriac. But then it will be the end of 'free' food till next year.
Yes, I was very pleased about the election result. One blonde narcissist down....... it gives me hope!

We picked the last of our apples yesterday, we had the children on the raised platform to reach the highest fruit. Crumble for pud last night and some people around here had it for breakfast as well, not me though, I stuck to porridge.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Evening all,
One of those days where I don't seem to have achieved much, but have paved the way for a potentially stonking Monday & Tuesday (she said hopefully!) Mr F finished painting the kitchen today..... not helped by the fact that the blind decided to fall down.... & I finally waxed the kitchen dresser, which had been waiting for a few days now. I've put the fairy lights back up & Mr F has set up the kitchen stereo again, but everything else can be done tomorrow. I shall be on my own, so will have my witchy audiobook on & will just aim to crack on with all that I need to do. It will be lovely to have the kitchen back to normal, with only the old quarry tiles needing work now & I shall do that myself. As I get everything brought back into the kitchen, it will also give us the conservatory back, which is our dining room, so two rooms for one lot of effort!
On top of a whole day of painting, the lovely Mr F is now making a lasagne - I knew there was a reason why I married him......
All good wishes m'dears for a peaceful evening & a positive start to the week tomorrow.
