Evening diary readers, Well I'm feeling tired tonight, as have fitted quite a lot into my day. Didn't really have a list of specific plans, apart from wanting some outdoor exercise & to Skype my sister. So I was pleased to achieve the following:
Skyped my sister
Sorted last bit of the shoe saga
Laundry done & pegged out
Went for a bike ride
Potted up peppers & aubergines
Moved some tomatoes & cucumber babies into the greenhouse.
Moved chilli babies into the conservatory.
Watered all other greenhouse seedlings.
Topped up pond
Dug over lorry tyre & planted mint roots (that will be new mint bed)
Planted 6 x parsley plants into main herb bed.
Staked unruly large rosemary bush.
Sorted all this week's clean laundry & ironed what needed it.
Cooked dinner using last of Sunday's leftover pork.
I felt that was quite a productive day in the circumstances.
What I intend to do tonight: Absolutely b*gger all!
Take care m'dears,
F x

Yes, I agree HHoD. You feel like you deserve it. I like to go to bed properly tired too. Cat is hogging the fire, as per usual, but I'm nicely cosied up on the sofa under the blanket I knitted from leftover multi-colour sock yarn. I think I like every type of leftovers!

My my you HAVE been busy Foxgloves!!
Another one here that hates food waste!! Apart from anything else, I dont know how people can afford to buy food to just put it in the bin? Must have a lot more money than me is what I say!
Mage 4 plum bread loaves this morning and some flapjack. Think my OH is liking me being off work as he is getting lots of baking and his tea cooked from scratch every night.
Been at the allotment this afternoon and got some early potatoes in. This is usually my Dads job but hes keeping away which is as it should be. I was digging over the ground and turning it over with the spade when I hit my foot instead of the ground with my spade!! Luckily Im not very strong and my foot is still in tact. The other outcome doesnt bear thinking about and especially as I didnt have my mobile with me. Silly Girl!! Must take more care!Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... Kantankrus - Sounds very productive on the home baking front. I'm not really baking anything except bread atm as we are back on the healthy eating/weight loss, but I am definitely going to make an Easter cake. I like plum bread. We live close to the borders with the county which seems to be famous for it. One of our local delis puts tables out in the summer & serves coffees from their coffee bean roasting shop with toasted sliced of plum bread. Very yum. I don't think they will be doing it any time soon though.

Dear Readers,
Well, these are stressful & sad times, aren't they? I'm being quite productive on the whole, on the home front, trying not to dwell on the news, trying not to overthink worst case scenarios re me & mine (as we will all be doing, I know) but then I read the headline about there having been over 500 deaths in 24 hours, & well, you can't stop thinking about that, can you? The people who have died, the loved ones who probably couldn't be with them & won't be able to have a proper funeral either. Desperate times. They are in my thoughts, for sure.
So......keeping myself busy. That's the only way to go. I woke up at about 2am, walked around for a bit, then went back to bed & slept like a log.....too deeply in fact, as awoke with a headache which is only just starting to feel as though it might be lifting. I thought some fresh air would be good, so as Mr F was working from home, I fuelled up on coffee & took myself off down the garden where I finished the herb bed. I edged it yesterday, so today I dug it over, cut everything back, split a comfrey plant & planted half by the compost bins (we can chop it straight in for compost activator) & replanted the other half in a better position. The autumn sown garlic & sweet peas looked a little peaky so they had a dose of organic seaweed solution......if only I could have had a dose of this myself! It's all looking ready to go now, for my herbs to start regenerating for Spring - in fact there looks to be sufficient sorrel to make some soup over the next week - & hopefully I'll be able to cut some nice herb bunches in the summer months for hanging & drying, as usual.
I've spent most of this afternoon on a project I've been doing for a while & that has kept my mind occupied. I'm now off to cover up my little seedlings in the greenhouse & conservatory before putting my audiobook on in the kitchen & making a big fish pie. I save all the trimmings & small fillets when I am divvying up my Grimsby fish box as the mixture of different things makes a nice pie. I like to put a leek in mine & also to top it with leek mash. I'm aiming to make enough for tomorrow too, then we can both have a night off cooking, apart from shoving it in the oven & doing a bit of veg.
I only really feel like reading tonight, but that's probably because my head is still muzzy. At least I haven't wasted my day, & for my health & that of my loved ones I am so very grateful.
Take care please, all of you.

I completely agree foxgloves it is worrying times indeed and as if loosing a loved one isn’t hard enough, not being able to be with them or see them too.Keeping busy is definitely the order of today and every day going forward until this has passed. Hug those you can near and call and talk to those you can’t.9

Yes, PurpleFairy.... because apart from sticking like glue to the social distancing & hygiene rules, staying busy & appreciating what we have is the only thing we can do.

Lots of bananas being eaten here! For any about to go the wrong side of ripe we can thoroughly recommend the lakeland banana bag. Its saved us loads of lovely bananas from the turn. Funny enough wrapping them in bubble wrap and storing in the fridge does the job just as well
They can look a bit brown to black but give them a chance, peel and you may be surprised.
