I have been saying to my kids that if (when?) it gets to the point that we can't go out for a walk then we need to sit in the garden for a bit every day just to get some sunlight and a bit of fresh air. I suggested reading and both kids turned their noses up at me, but dd is suddenly interested again now that I've just told her that's what you're doing. Wonder if that will work the same when I tell ds.
Would still rather walk than sit outside if I can...

IMO @crazy_cat_lady anything you can use to influence the good habits of the children is a tool worth using.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

CCL - When I was your daughter's age (& before), I read absolutely everything & anything......except Tolkein, which never appealed to me & still doesn't, except any clip from movie version involving Sean Bean, of course!
I'm reading a historical novel at the moment. I was going to read a scandi-crime next but I also have a copy of Jeanette Winterson's novel 'Frankisstein' which is her version of Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein'. That was one of my A-level set books, so I am interested to read a modern interpretation. It's a case of keeping ourselves busy & entertained at the moment. I did think Mr F might be having rather a lot of X-box time but he hasn't even been on it so far as he is enjoying getting all sorts of other things done. I'm all for that as it means I don't have to listen to ear-worm sound tracks & things getting blown up!
It looks like we can all go for 1 walk or 1 cycle ride each day, so you will still be able to get some exercise. I enjoy sitting in my garden, but defo still need my coat atm.....even sat out with my hood up the other day, just for the fresh air & sunshine!

Oh well m'dears, here we all are. Positives this morning? The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the heron hasn't eaten our frogspawn yet & I received a lovely cheer-up card in the post.
I've sorted all the clean laundry this morning, done budget updates & banking & although I am trying to put off doing the ironing, I'm actually going to go & do it before lunch, then I don't have to think about it again for a whole week. I also intend to cast an eye over Sunday's leftover roast beef join to see if it will stretch to 2 meals. I think it should, but shan't know until it is sliced up.
About ten minutes ago, I experienced a strong desire to go to a garden centre. Well, that isn't going to happen, but the feeling hasn't gone away, so I've decided that this afternoon, I will see if there are any 'shopping from home' opportunities from our own garden. Nature can be quite bountiful at this time of year. I must get the wretched bloody iron our now, but will report back later on any good garden 'finds'.

I'm going to have too many plants. I sowed plenty as I have a greenhouse & my sister doesn't, so I always take her lots of plants at Easter. Now that we can't meet up (& she's 130 miles away so it's not possible just to drop them off on the doorstep) I will have a surplus. so am considering potting some up, labelling & leaving them at the edge of our drive with a notice asking anyone passing to help themselves. I guess only dog walkers will be passing by but I think that might be better than wasting them. I'll see when I get to potting-on time.

I empathise with your garden centre cravings. I've got a very strong Costa craving and I would kill for a large skinny latte right now. It's also my birthday tomorrow and I would love to go to NT place for a lovely walk, browse the second hand books and have a nice latte in the cafe 😥. Oh well, maybe next year!
I'm also wondering how to get hold of bedding plants and compost for my garden now 🌷🌻🌼🌸. Could I order them online do you think? Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I always grow from seed, HHoD, but I've used Thomps*n & Morgan online for garden stuff & think they sell bedding plants. I expect supermarkets may concentrate on food this Spring? Do Homeb*se & B&* sell them online, I wonder?
Sorry not to be very helpful.

Aww, HHoD, shame you won't be able to have a nice NT visit for your birthday. My birthday is next month, so I'm sure I'll be doing an at home thing too. If the weather is nice, I might do a picnic with a bottle of wine to have in the garden, but I'll defo need a wet/chilly weather option. Enjoy your day as much as you can in this difficult time.
