Evening Daffodils,
Hoping for better night's sleep tonight. The big stress point of the past week has receded a lot, as Mr F's tests came back & while he will need surgery at some point, he doesn't have any illness. He has been having some blimming worrying symptoms & I have been overthinking it all like crazy, with those lying awake nights providing ample breeding ground for my imagination to conjure worst case scenarios. So a big sigh of relief & I've given him such a massive hug today.
Audit of pantry & freezer went well. I wanted to check our preparedness should The Virus come our way. I don't believe in stripping the shelves in a fit of panic buying, but I do think it's sensible to know that we can feed ourselves healthily for a couple of weeks should we become poorly. We tend to cook everything from scratch & don't really buy packets, instants & tins, so I'm going to pop a couple of chickens in the freezer. I know I can easily get 3 or 4 days of meals from a chicken plus a decent amount of soup. There's also a ham hock in the freezer which will do three days worth so I think we'll just make sure we'd be OK for a couple of extra weeks in an emergency. The medicine box is always well stocked...... a hangover I think from when I worked with the public & came into contact with lots of coldy lergies & needing so many painkillers for time of the month. I seem to have got into a habit of regularly topping it up.
While I was in food list mode, I did meal plans for next week too, & started the shopping list. Cooked 3-bean curry tonight. An old recipe I hadn't made for probably at least 15 years! Two spare portions for freezer. Easy, tasty & cheap, & all store cupboard ingredients apart from onions & garlic.
Anyway m'dears. Keep cosy.

Hope you sleep well tonight Foxgloves. I assumed it was some kind of health worry that was preoccupying you. So pleased that everything is ok, despite the need for surgery sometime in the future. Take care, both of you xx

Pleased to hear Mr F is ok, hopefully you will be able to sleep a bit better tonight,I'm getting a bit worried by news from Australia that shoppers have stripped the supermarkets of loo rolls,I do like to have a good stock in and currently only have 24 😳seriously though I am thinking of stocking up on a few essentials just in case of illness,I tend to fly by the seat of my pants when it comes to the food shop so a couple of days not being able to shop would cause me a problem 😟 I'm just going to get some extra bread and milk plus a few tins of things like beans and soup and maybe stock up the freezer with some veg and easy things to cook,I've always got eggs so can always have an egg based meal at the drop of a hat,I'm not sure what else to buy to be honest 🤷♀️Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1208

Evening chilly readers,
I can't seem to get warm today! I'm not usually such a chilly mortal. I'm ready for Spring now, that's for sure!
There are hopeful signs though. I counted 8 blobs of frogspawn in our pond this morning & I managed to get my tomato seeds sown, also cucumbers. I've moved my chilli & aubergine seedlings up to the spare bedroom windowsill to make room. Hoping to crack on with the garden big time next week with lots more seed sowing, clearing & planting. Need to clear a huge amount of brushwood too, so will need at least a couple of bonfires, if not three.
But for now, I have a (free!) magazine, a nice library book full of recipes & a purry cat.
Don't ditch those liberty bodices yet, girls..... it's proper chilly tonight.
