Glad you've had a lovely day. We had a little sleet shower whilst I was in the garden but I was so involved in it, I just stayed out there! As you can see from the time, I've joined the insomniac club with overthinking for added measure!!8

Oh yes, classic overthinking time, Purps. I did stay asleep until 4.30am, but then I pinged awake, my brain started churning over some worrying stuff going on here this week & that was me done for sleep. I got up at 5 & had a little walk around, then sat up in bed & read my book for a bit. I've had a nice big cup of coffee & am about to start today's jobs. I haven't made a list, but I'm intending to get through as much as possible.
Hope you have a decent day,

I was also awake with a racing mind last night except mine isn't anything to get het up over,it's just random thoughts pinging around,I sat up in the end and read,I eventually went back to bed at 3.30 😟it's annoying because I'm actually doing things to my bathroom today and need the energy a good nights sleep would have given me, I'm just stopping to have a coffee so I get a caffeine boost
I hope your stressful event is resolved soon and I loved your post about the valentine snowdrops 😊Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1209 -
They say if you are lying awake in the middle of the night worrying to write your worries down. That way your brain realises you wont forget them.
If just normal insomnia I find getting out of bed, going downstairs for a drink and dozing on the sofa under a blanket with the cat usually gets me back off again. Of course this is better if at the weekend when you know you haven't got to get up for work anytime soon xDedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

Thanks for the insomnia sympathy. It's infuriating. I have heard that writing the issues down is a good technique & I used to work with someone who did this regularly. She kept a notebook by her bed especially for that purpose, but I think writing would wake me up even more & I might still be sitting there two hours later with an essay! I do find that worries do start to subside the moment I get out of bed to start my day, so I tell myself that I will probably feel more able to deal with whatever it is in the morning. I don't think our minds are really geared up for problem solving in the night when we're supposed to be sleeping.
Despite early waking, I've had quite a productive day & have even done a few garden jobs in readiness for the workmen coming tomorrow. All I have left to do is to strip the Indian spiced chicken Mr F roasted on Saturday so I can use the leftover meat for tonight's meal. I think there should be sufficient for a packed lunch too. Oh & I have a couple of garments for mending, but I can easily do that later in front of the TV.
I've also got all my notes/quote ready for surveyor visit tomorrow when I shall doubtless learn more about the logistics of chopping out the chimney & an additional chunk of wall.
Hope you've all got off to a decent start to the week m'dears. If not, just start the week again tomorrow. Scarlett O'Hara had something when she said 'Tomorrow is another day".....

Foxgloves, one possible treatment for insomnia is Fairground Monkeys. You choose 3 characters- historical, fictional, live; they can be people or animals. Ideally they will never have met; you then allocate each of them an instrument. Choice trios so far include Canute on the spoons, Einstein rapping, and Austen on the saxophone. I find it takes my mind off my worries (and I'm a terrible one for 3am catastrophising) and makes me laugh. You can play solo, duo, up to any number. I hope this brings healing hysteria to all insomniacs reading. Humdinger

Sorry to hear you had a bad night foxgloves - I had hoped it wouldn't be the case... but good news that you managed to get stuff done anyway. Hope whatever it is has been sorted and won't be playing on your mind again tonight... Lots of loveNot giving up

I'm glad you managed to escape the house at last Foxgloves and go for a walk. I love walks in nature and coffee shops, which is why NT places are like heaven on earth to me (plus a bit of lovely history thrown in)
.
Good news that your quotes have come in at or under the expected budget.
When I can't sleep I don't get out of bed as that wakes me up even more (plus it's too cold to get out of bed in the winter). Instead I try to think about the plot of the latest book I'm reading which takes my mind off my own life and is thus more relaxing. I don't get stressed about things that happen to fictional characters. Crime thrillers are best for this I find as I think about whodunnit based on motive, opportunity, personality, etc.

Thanks for the insomnia sympathies. I did wake up early again today, but after a little walk around, I went back to bed & did get another hour of sleep. Woke up with a headache though which has lingered all day, so am now blitzing it with codiene. Despite the headache, I've been reasonably productive in between dealing with chimney surveyor this morning & supervising workmen this afternoon. Apart from subbing Mr F with a bit of grocery petty cash for the hospital car park machine, nothing whatsoever has been spent except for the obligatory deposit paid this morning when booking in some work on the house for later this month. In a sense, that doesn't really count as a 'spend' because it is from the sum I ring fenced for home improvements, so doesn't affect the monthly budget. Nevertheless, I paid it using our 'just for points' credit card, as figured I may as well earn a few quid in vouchers. It will be paid off in full anyway, as always. It does feel as though a few things are progressing now, anyway.
And let's not forget the small stuff..... decluttered another bin full from 'Foxgloves HQ' & thanks to Christmas gifts, was able to shop two items from my toiletry stash this morning, to replace things which had run out.
Workmen coming back tomorrow afternoon, but intend to spend the morning doing a full freezer & pantry audit.
Cheers all,
