I have just added a thread we have just moved into a house and received a bill for 766.94 from end of Jan to 19th March!!! We are with EDF Eco 20/20 with electric only, we have the heating on 4 hours a day as we work fulltime except weekends. We have eco electric heaters upstairs that get to a temp and auto switch off and 5 normal radiators downstairs I am speaking to the complicated team we need to understand what is using the electric. We are new to living with just electric however ensured that our timers are setup, bought energy efficient washers/driers and utilize within the cheaper time periods. If you can share the tariffs you have gone too it would be appreciated.
Thanks
Emma
You are currently on the restrictive and expensive old EDF 20/20 tariff and the first thing that you need to do is get them to change your meter for an industry standard E7 meter.
When you have a standard E7 meter you will be free to choose the best available deal with a supplier of your choice.
Sian2769 has stated that she is switching to Scottish Power one year fixed price E10 tariff.0 -
Update - The situation is in the hands of the energy ombudsman now so await the outcome. We are now in the process of switching our electric to Scottish power on a 1 year fixed tariff deal. Anyone that is with Eon at the moment on an E10 meter i advise you to switch now. You will be on the Eon E10 variable tariff that is a lot more expensive and the price could go up if they decide to hike up prices. I have worked out that if had switched to Scottish Power in May 2017 we would have saved £323 on our usage up to todays meter readings. Eon are just a massive rip off company, please do not stay with them.
Thanks Sian
What's the name of the tariff you're switching to with Scottish Power? It's difficult to find suppliers that offer an E10 tariff let alone a fixed price one. I'd be interested to know the unit prices for my area of the country (East Midlands).0 -
Scottish power E7/10 tariff 1 year fixed as below. These rates include 5% VAT and is paperless billing and managed online. I live in Nottingham. You would have to phone Scottish power up and ask them for your rates in your area. We have storage heaters and they store the heat in the cheaper 20 hours of electric. We are using 16500 KWH a year as all electric.
Day - 16.65p per KWH
Night - 7.908p per KWH
Standing charge per day - 32.88p
They also do a 2 year fixed deal, day and night rate the same but standing charge is 41.09p per day.
E on only have a variable tariff for E10 and there rates don't include 5% VAT so you have to add that on top making even more expensive.0 -
Sorry was supposed to say stores heat up in 10 cheaper hours not 20. The tariff is called fix and save i think. They say its an E7 tarrif but being used on our E10 meter. Hope this helps you.

Glad that you have found a supplier that is prepared to offer you a suitable fixed tariff that meet your requirements at a reasonable price.
Shocking service from eon who obviously don't want your custom and have treated other customers in a similar way.
eon seem be striving to win the wooden spoon award this year and their loss is your gain!0 -
Yes I can't get away from E on quick enough. There just so bad at managing accounts and customer support is so poor. We have been with them since 1999 and was stuck being on the Heatwise meter. Now we have new E10 meter in we are finally able to move. Deffo there loss as we are big users of electric.
