I am shocked at the temerity of the grocery pickers - imagine choosing big bananas!!!!Is it mean to suggest that smaller ones would have been too small? If she refuses to get on the bus or take a taxi then maybe suggest the meals for "the elderly!" With any luck she will be so affronted she will get on a bus and take some responsibility for herself. Good luck with the operation when it happens and don't make yourself poorly worrying about her too much. Let her know clearly what is possible and maybe offer her a store of long life milk, meals for freezer etc (Not ones you have slaved over as she did not appreciate them and you could do with them for yourself while you recover).
:rotfl: or maybe too yellow
Elona I'm afraid she is very very stubborn and would probably put on her poor neighbours before she would lower herself to get a bus. I do a lot of cooking for her despite her much preferring Morrisons ready meals of course but guilt is a powerful thing. nanny and I have a devious plan to get her and nans dad to meet then they could annoy each other instead of us :rotfl:0 -
nannywindow wrote: »Nelski I understand how much you are hurting " she doesnt ever ask how i am or if its more difficult in the snow or anything... she really is so selfish now as long as she gets her shop and as long as its on the day she wants it then it could be 6ft in snow and she wouldnt care:(:( Dad would be appalled".
I am for one, grateful to know that I am not alone and that there are people in the same boat. Even had this Sunday "Mr Fix It's cancer can't be that bad "because Steven Fry had it and now he's cured, they don't even want to operate on Mr Fix It !" Nooooooo that's because it's bl00dy incurable and operating wouldn't do any good, it's too far gone and into other parts !. As for a pharmacy delivery, it's on a par with your mum's online shop.I'm lucky that he has his own car and get about otherwise I think he would be insufferable.Your Mum should be grateful that you take her shopping at all. Perhaps drop a few hints that it's about time your brother took her, you know, for a change. However I have a feeling of how that would go down....... lead balloon anyone ? Sorry if I have spoken out of turn.
As for Dancing on Ice, I can fall over my feet whilst crossing over the back step or I can dive off the top rung of a step stool . So I would be great on a show where falling down was the goal. I'd get a gold medal there :rotfl:.
I am sending you my virtual support and lots of alcoholic drinks of your choice  :A
Elona Ohhhhh baby presents, how exciting :j.
nan
(((((((nanny and Mr fix it))))))) they dont realise how nasty they appear do they ....or maybe they do. As for wonder brother he pops up for lunch every few months and leaves with his halo duly polished!!! thanks for the support and it is sent right back atcha ....for those of you all with lovely mums/dads you are very fortunate.0 -
Holly I am so pleased to "see" you back. Given the circumstances, I think I'd have scarpered too - except I have nowhere I could scarper to. I do hope you, with your GP's help, can find a way forward that you can cope with, and that moves you forward to full health.
Speky aw, rotten luck on not getting the job, but that looks like some very positive feedback - and at least you don't have to worry about moving miles and endways from Glasgow.
Nelski I'm sorry, but as I see it, your Mum has three perfectly viable options - online shopping, the dreaded bus, or a taxi. Ok, none of those would be her first choice, but it's not forever; surely she can manage a bit of inconvenience while you recover from your op? You do so much for her, and she really does seem to take you for granted.
Nannywindow I'd like to say I'm gobsmacked about the comment re Mr Fix It's cancer - but you know, I've experienced similar types of comments, "you look a good colour, there can't be anything really wrong" is a common one (note - I'm naturally ghostly pale; if I'm flushed it's because the lupus is acting up and my face is itching/burning because of it). All you can do is put your cloth ears on and try and rise above it.
Mr LW is under instruction to keep me distracted as much as possible; if I have too much time to ruminate over things.... well, let's not go there, hey?;) I have two doggy bookings for November already - Suzie's Mum mentioned she was going to have a couple of short breaks, and she's booked Suzie's two stays with me already, so that's something good. And I had an email from Lizzie's Mum confirming her arrival time on 10th March; I hope the snow is all gone by then!If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Welcome back Holly Harvey. I cannot believe that “their” heavy handedness & lack of professionalism forced you into such drastic action . I hope your GP can talk some sense into them and MORE IMPORTANTLY get everything in writing immediately so you know exactly where you & they stand & precisely what actions are required by all involved. I must admit that when anyone ‘in authority’ starts talking “at” me my hearing & understanding goes out of the window & I have not had any MH problems to date. I think I am just generally paranoid and get really  when I see or hear about injustices which I am not in a position to rectify - on a very small scale I can understand how helpless it makes you feel & to me it just appears as bullying.
Rant over:o
We had some snow today on the Isle of Dogs & although it settled it was less than half an inch deep. Very
DH was very busy today - took up the carpet, underlay & grippers etc for the upstairs landing & stairs + polyfillered any cracks BUT more importantly from my POV he tidied up after himself & all I had to do was a bit of hoovering. Some of the old carpet has gone in the wheelie bin as rubbish collection is tomorrow. The rest has been bagged up ready for the tip. He deserves a reward so coconut biccies & maybe a fruit cake will be made tomorrow:) Then he is putting me to work sugar soaping & rinsing down woodwork while he attempts to minimise the creaking landing floor boards:(
Lunch was hm pizza & dinner was lo hm mushroom & lentil pie with mash & petit Pois.
Have a good night everyone especially HollyHarvey.
