Good morning all
I had a lovely family weekend with my sons, daughter in laws and 4 grandchildren . Sons cooked the brunch on Sunday morning while I sat and cuddled the 6 week old baby. Such a placid little soul. I was up and out early this morning to collect my prescription in case the snow got worse but at the moment it is just flurries but with a lot more predicted. It looks like coffee morning, village supper and Film night in the village will be cancelled this week so cupboard tidying, reading and knitting it is then.0 -
Afternoon all,
LaineyT no ive not heard anything from Prodigal. Its a good job really as i am still angry with him. He will turn up when he is hungry. How I can go from being so ill last Wednesday and Thursday that I need to be Sectioned under the Mental Health Act and put in hospital for my own safety, to well enough to be discharged from the Mental Health Trust on Monday I don’t know.
I'm still recovering from a lack of sleep overnight on Sunday. I fell asleep at my desk earlier on this morning.
Not much in the way of snow here but bright sunshine and a light dusting of snow. Lovely if you dont have to go out in it.:)
Having a few issues with my pc. I'll get there eventually, even if i have to start again but i dont think it will come to that. Wish me luck.
Sorry you didnt get the job you went for Speky, your young there will be lots of opportunities that will come your way...
Onwards and forwards,

Afternoon all
:j Yeah our lovely Holly is back. I echo the words of people on here but I can't offer anything much except great big bear hugs, lots of them :grouphug:. What you did would be my answer too, it's the fight or flight response.
Well after yesterdays fiasco, Dad was on the phone this morning because his car is being picked up for a service and they hadn't contacted him to tell him the time of pick up. So would we go to the pharmacy to collect his prescription. That was the whole point of going out yesterday, so that we didn't have to go out in this cold weather ! It turns out that he has enough medication to last for the next two weeks anyway . I don't think he realises that we are also old now and can't deal with things like we used to.
Anyway after I calmed down, I sorted out the ironing from the non ironing and put those things away. I have also marinaded some pork in plum and hoisin sauce ready for tea which will be a stir fry.
I also had to clean the kitchen floor as I threw a cup of coffee over it . I turned around and hit the wall with a full cup of hot liquid, luckily it missed me but the floor "got it" instead. I still don't know how I did it. I must be very clever :rotfl:.
We have had snow showers on and off all day but according to the weatherman we probably have it to come Wed/Thurs. It's supposed to be DGC school St David's Day parade through the village streets on Thursday, but I hope they show sense and cancel it, at least because of the wind chill factor. ( last year half of the littlies didn't have their coats done up and it was freezing  )
Speky I'm sorry that you missed out on the new job. But perhaps something better will turn up.
Nelski Hope you are having a goodish day with your Mum. Seems like she wants to stick her head in the sand over your op. I know first hand about that.
Poppy I'm glad you had lovely cuddles.
Stay safe and warm everyone. Hugs all round.

When I woke up there was an inch of snow which melted over the day. Had porridge for breakfast and fish with peas for lunch. Spent this morning finding a box to put the baby presents into and looking over the items.
Leek and potato soup is warming for snacks over the afternoon as I am trying to avoid eating rubbish and so far the house is nice and cosy. which is just as well as the snow has just started again.

Fingers crossed that people will listen to your gp and that you do not have to feel so scared.
I have been hand washing a small baby patchwork quilt but don't think I can hang it outside unless I use the small space next to the garage that has a covered area.
Nelski
Is there an online grocery service you could arrange for your Mum while you are not able to get to her? I have been ordering all sorts of things online rather than have to trek around in the cold.
Hugs to all0 -
Speky, sorry you didn't get the job, but it sounds as though you had positive feedback from the interview.
I agree with Nelski, something else will come along for you. I hope you aren't too disappointed.0 -
Holly i can totally understand your feelings about being locked up without your consent  you are right you haven't committed any crime and are not a danger to anyone. I really hope they can all come to a satisfactory resolution soon and start giving you the help you are asking for ...sounds like your GP is a gem though...mine doesn't even know who I am
anyway stay strong mucker and remember you have lots of friends so you need never feel sad or lonely just talk x
nanny i'm cross for you  could you maybe get his pharmacy to deliver? You have to think about yourselves too particularly in this weather. well done on avoiding yourself with hot coffee ....have you considered applying for dancing on ice? I reckon you would be brilliant
Glad to be back home as the snow keeps giving it a go but luckily the sun is winning the game at the moment. Mum was pretty grizzly today and so was I so it wasn't the most pleasant visit. Your right nanny about her denial ...do you know she doesnt ever ask how i am or if its more difficult in the snow or anything... she really is so selfish now as long as she gets her shop and as long as its on the day she wants it then it could be 6ft in snow and she wouldnt care:(:( Dad would be appalled
Anyway grizzly mood has lifted now so it coffee and HM scone time:)0 -

She doesnt like them Elona after having had one delivery when I was in hospital for a few days a while ago. Apparently the bananas they sent were too big :rotfl: she could also get the bus which runs right outside her house or get a cab but no none of those options are suitable for her :cool:0 -
Afternoon all.
Many thanks for all my birthday wishes too, if I'd eaten all those birthday cakes that were posted I'd be flat out!
It's been a bitterly cold and very sunny here with only one feeble flurry of what could have been snow. Tonight could be the bad one.
Work was very good today, quiet students who got on with their work and then I even managed to finish off all the internal verification stuff I had to do. Once I started it things went fast.
WB HH - good to see you around.
I've had butter chicken for lunch, it needed to be eaten up.
A neighbour called round very briefly for a coffee stop, he'd been out chopping down trees and needed a hot drink. I've just lit the wood burner even though I'm going out for a short while this evening. It's too cold to not have any heating on. I'll switch on the electric blanket before I go out so I can come home to a lovel cosy bed.
I hope everyone is doing well, warm and safe.0 -

I am shocked at the temerity of the grocery pickers - imagine choosing big bananas!!!! Is it mean to suggest that smaller ones would have been too small? If she refuses to get on the bus or take a taxi then maybe suggest the meals for "the elderly!" With any luck she will be so affronted she will get on a bus and take some responsibility for herself. Good luck with the operation when it happens and don't make yourself poorly worrying about her too much. Let her know clearly what is possible and maybe offer her a store of long life milk, meals for freezer etc (Not ones you have slaved over as she did not appreciate them and you could do with them for yourself while you recover).0 -
Nelski I understand how much you are hurting " she doesnt ever ask how i am or if its more difficult in the snow or anything... she really is so selfish now as long as she gets her shop and as long as its on the day she wants it then it could be 6ft in snow and she wouldnt care:(:( Dad would be appalled".
I am for one, grateful to know that I am not alone and that there are people in the same boat. Even had this Sunday "Mr Fix It's cancer can't be that bad "because Steven Fry had it and now he's cured, they don't even want to operate on Mr Fix It !" Nooooooo that's because it's bl00dy incurable and operating wouldn't do any good, it's too far gone and into other parts !. As for a pharmacy delivery, it's on a par with your mum's online shop.I'm lucky that he has his own car and get about otherwise I think he would be insufferable.Your Mum should be grateful that you take her shopping at all. Perhaps drop a few hints that it's about time your brother took her, you know, for a change. However I have a feeling of how that would go down....... lead balloon anyone ? Sorry if I have spoken out of turn.
As for Dancing on Ice, I can fall over my feet whilst crossing over the back step or I can dive off the top rung of a step stool . So I would be great on a show where falling down was the goal. I'd get a gold medal there :rotfl:.
I am sending you my virtual support and lots of alcoholic drinks of your choice  :A
Elona Ohhhhh baby presents, how exciting :j.
