i heard it from the oracles that reside in the House Prices sub-forum.
i think if you ask they will even tell you that they were predicting it last year and were letting us all know.0 -
No seriously I've always said it will be 199%.
The estate agents will be doing BOGOF's:
Buy a house for a pound and get another one free.0 -
I hope it's ok to ask this. I looked through the forums and couldn't find anything similar.
I have a house in Stratford near the Olympic site. I want to sell it and buy something bigger elsewhere in London. Prices generally are going down, which is good for me as I want to trade up. But what will happen to prices near the Olympics? The area is undergoing huge regeneration and a DLR station is being built (slightly) closer to me as well as the new link to France next year etc., then the new Westfield shopping centre.
How do I find out what is the best time to move? I guess prices here will be highest just before the olympics, but I don't want to wait that long as I've already been here 7 years and I want to live closer to town.
Thank you for your help!0 -

I'm confused. Westfield was just opened in Shepherds Bush, W12, last time i looked.0 -
The one in Stratford is due to open in spring 2011 (http://uk.westfield.com/stratfordcity/)0
-
Shouldn't it be Eastfield then?!0
-
I suppose so, but what should they then call the ones in Australia and the States?0

I wonder if there is a good chance that the "cross rail" project will get the go ahead as a "make work" scheme to follow on from the Olympics?
My feeling is that you will do best financially in 2010 as this could be the bottom of the market and currently there must be a lot of speculative worried money in Stratford.
It might be useful to see if you can graph Stratford rate of change of houseprices against the London average to see if the bubble is more intense in Stratford.
Somewhere I think Borough has been the biggest riser under Labour, but I might be wrong.0 -
Thanks John. Tragically i just spent my lunch break making a graph of house prices in each borough. It doesn't seem to be different from anywhere else, though i don't have every month as it's a b___ copying the data out of pdfs. Do you know of a website that already provides broken down graphs of house prices in each area of london?
The regeneration and new stations must count for *something*0 -

Why is a glorified school sports day going to have any impact on house prices?
Other countries have shown that Olympic sites tend to become huge white elephants.
