Bring on the recession, sounds harsh, but I firmly believe the country will be better for it.

The country may be better of with a house price correction, but how can you honestly believe a recession is good for the country.

If you end up as one of those affected by a recession then I bet you will change your views.

It looks like a good buy to me and she can always build out of trouble by employing some laid off building workers.

Useful to have "a hospital job" up one's sleeve.

Every capitalist economy must endure recession. It's the nature of cyclical markets. It 'clears out' the system and sadly, there are casualties.
The problem with this recession is that the boom that preceded it was engineered to such a large degree (cheap credit, liar-loans) by a government who thought they could have all boom and no bust, so it'll hurt more.

It's like the captain of a plane that's crashing - rather than bring the plane down when he realises something's wrong thereby minimizing damage, he slams the throttle forward and climbs higher; the inevitable crash will therefore be more severe.

I agree! The US is heading for one, and Eurolands not looking so good. The 'one size fits all' Economy is looking very sick. Spain, Italy and Ireland are having major problems and it's only a question of time before the Central Bank stops bailing them out. I just hope we're not heading towards a Global slump. On the bright side, we've still got low unemployment, but if this changes.....beware

And who are you? Mr Recession-proof?...and all your family?
    Stupid remark.

It affects everyone in the end...whether directly or indirectly but takes a few years to trickle down.

The special HPC would be good too; my little area stays at same value (or, even better, goes up a further 20% as it is sooo special and HPC proof) and the rest of the country drops 50%.

oooh, then could get 8 bed with lake?
