We sold a car and with just over 6 months left on the insurance (which cost a single payment of £236.80) I contacted the Brokers (Adrian Flux Insurance Services) to cancel.
I was told that, with this Insurer 'Trinity Lane', there was no refund due to us (after the first 4 months) the broker 'graciously' said they would not charge us the £30.00 cancellation fee. Does this seem right? especially given the following as I just checked the policy and all it says on cancellation is this:-

Cancellations
If you wish to cancel your policy, please contact our customer service team. Do not cancel your Direct Debit payments. You may be due a refund for part of your premium as long as no claims have occurred during your time on cover. Any refund will be offset against any outstanding Direct Debit payments. You must send us a letter confirming your cancellation request before we can cancel your policy.

I ALSO FOUND THIS!
Trinity Lane Insurance Company Ltd is owned by one of the partners of Adrian Flux Insurance Services.

Is it worth taking this any further do you think?

It says you may be due a refund.

So it doesn't guarantee you a refund.

The cancellation charges will have been included in your documentation - what do they say? If you have not been provided with any cancellation charge scale at the time of purchase then that should be the basis of your complaint...
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.
  • This was all I found in the Terms of Business - is says nothing there about any timescale:

    "Cancellations
If you wish to cancel your policy, please contact our customer service team. Do not cancel your Direct Debit payments. You may be due a refund for part of your premium as long as no claims have occurred during your time on cover. Any refund will be offset against any outstanding Direct Debit payments."

I have in fact just written to them to this effect so we shall see!
