Beware of Modlilly

Modlilly are a women’s clothing manufacturer that market themselves as being based in the US. They are in fact based in China and their shipping times are not as stated on their website. They also change their name regularly as there have been many complaints in the UK about them (see Trustpilot).
I placed an order earlier this year and was told almost straight away that my item was out of stock and they couldn’t give me a delivery date. Normal practice in this scenario is to offer a refund but they did not so I asked PayPal to pursue a refund on my behalf. As soon as I did that they sent a dispatch notice to PayPal but nothing arrived.
PayPal then closed my dispute leaving me nowhere and with no option on their site to reopen the complaint so I threatened to take them to Trading Standards In the UK. After this and weeks later my order finally arrived but the quality was appalling and the garments unwearable with rips and lose threads aplenty. Steer clear. The clothes look great on the website but it’s bordering on a scam.

Why would you happily order from a US site but not a Chinese site? (Expected quality notwithstanding). Both cases are subject to international shipping.0

Because shipping times from the US are very different from those in China. My husband imports goods from China for his business so I do know what I!!!8217;m talking about. Why would you expect the quality of items to be different? I would not. My point was about shipping times.0

The point I was making is that you can't guarantee better shipping times just because one supplier is in the US and another is in China. What matters are the shipping methods used.
The other point I was making is that if you want decent shipping times (and full consumer rights) then order from a UK supplier. If you order from a non-EU vendor then don't be surprised if shipping times and product quality are not what you expect.
And to the bold bit .... YOU implied that in your OP!0 -
This is supposed to be a page to warn other consumers about poor trading experiences. If you!!!8217;re more Interested in trolling other posters then try Facebook or Twitter.
Yes my approach to Trading Standards resulted in my goods being delivered and no I am not so much of a xenophobe to believe that only quality goods can be obtained from the EU.0 -
No I implied no such thing. Why don’t you read things properly?0

Why did you ask Paypal for a refund without even asking the seller for one?
Seems strange to me.0 -

I doubt the two were connected, Why did paypal close your case?0 -
