Best way to get hd tv for cheap budget

Options
I currently just use now tv as my monthly budget for tv is approx £10. That currently covers me for living room my bedroom and also 2 kids rooms. As i use now tv - entertainment and kids mostly.

Could someone recommend a way to get most things 1080p for a sililar budget.
I currently have netflix and amazon tv on our xbox at 1080p and the quality seems better.
My tv isnt 4k. From a bit of research i did i cant see that anything else except some now tv streams through the now tv sticks we use would give mostly 1080 output.

Also maybe roku?

The cheapest option is to use just Freeview or Freesat ,as there is plenty to choose from, with the multiple channels that are now free.

Freeview HD is 1080i and 1080p depending on channel and programme.

NowTV is going 1080 end of the year, all NowTV boxes apart from the white boxes should support 1080p.

I believe that only BBC are doing this?

No - I've just discovered that all the Freeview HD channels are now switching between 1080i and 1080p - and have been since 2011.

I do not know if Freesat HD does the same?

No Freesat and Sky are limited to 1080i, but other broadcasters also use 1080p on some satellites.

So how come my Humax HDR-1100S Freesat box shows all HD channels and programmes as 1080p?
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
  • Nowtv at 720p is an excellent picture and I reckon 99% of us wouldn!!!8217;t notice unless perhaps watching sport close up on a 55 inch tv.

My Humax OUTPUTS at 1080p - that's whether what I'm watching is Dad's Army or Blue Planet. The broadcast is likely to be 1080i most of the time on the HD channels. I guess the signal you're seeing is the signal between the box and the TV, not the broadcast.
