    When I first started to rent, I had just split up from my wife, and very short of funds. I found a cheap private 2 bedroom house.
    I was a very good tenant, only once in 10 years asked the landlord to do some work.
    I would be very surprised if landlords did not prefer male tenants that know how to use a screwdriver.

    Single women, more likely to want more repairs and maintenance?

    Nobody. The FCA doesn't regulate BTL mortgages so they wouldn't look at it. And the tenant wouldn't be able to take up a case against the mortgage lender as they do not have a contract with them.

    Hence it needs legislation, or else a case against a landlord to set a precedent.

    So you carried out unauthorised works.


    Women ofcourse aren't capable of picking up a screwdriver, but hey atleast they wont be getting sued....

    The whole thing is a pointless exercise anyway because most local councils have lists of landlords who offer housing to people whose rent is going to be mostly paid by some sort of benefit. I don't think you can claim that advertisements are flouting inequality laws if people are looking for suitable house rentals in the wrong place.

    There is no point in complaining about landlords in Bristol offering 2 bed flats at twice the rent of flats in North Wales if you want to live in Bristol. The rents are not equal but neither are the costs of the houses. You have got to look in the right place.
