Tethering - Personal Hotspot
Have always been a bit unsure about this feature. I can understand that my service provider (Three) can state that it is not allowed and can somehow prevent my phone from doing it or at least monitor it but how can they do monitor it on a MiFi device.
For example if I was to get a Mifi and a 12Gb preloaded data sim and take it to the USA, can it be used legitimately?

The network servers read the IMEI from the device, from that they know what it is. As a Mifi can only be used as a hot spot, and if tethering isn't allowed, it would not be given access to the network.0

Tethering is allowed on data sims, so why do you think they would prevent you doing so?For example if I was to get a Mifi and a 12Gb preloaded data sim and take it to the USA, can it be used legitimately?
Yes.
