Help barclays!

Hi everyone,On the 6th on February around about 6:30pm i tried to log into my online banking but found an error code saying my account was currently blocked and i must call a number. I called immediately as i was confused to why my account wasn't working both via the app and online i had first spoken to someone who told me that the online banking was down due to maintenance and thats why i couldn't log in which was obviously false i then spoke to somebody else who told me my account had been put under review and i should go into the bank with two forums of ID which i did, I raced into the bank the next morning only to be told the same thing that my accounts under review and i should get a letter in the next 7 days.

Friday my wages was due in went into the branch with my payslip and was allowed to get my wages out and THIS IS WHERE THE NIGHTMARE BEGINS friday 23rd i go into the branch again to get wages out as im paid weekly the man says he cant give my wages as my account was closed down on the thursday! & i must write a letter proving ownership of funds before i could get my wages i was literally about to cry in the branch as i had my wageslip with me so why wasnt that good enough? and WHY ON EARTH DID THEY NOT MAKE THE PAYMENT BOUNCE BACK TO MY EMPLOYEE IF THE ACCOUNT WAS CLOSED THE DAY BEFORE!

I immediately went home and called customer service trying to sort it out which i found i was going back and fourth i was then given a email to send proof and write the so called letter. i actually cant believe it i am waiting on the letter to come through the post regarding my account! I had spoken to somebody via online chat and he told me to log a PPI claim but can i log a PPI claim for this?

My rent is due Wednesday and i am not going to be able to pay it on time due to the bank holding last weeks wage. I am really stressed that im going to face eviction as i live in a housing association and they are strict. How long should i expect for Barclays to free my funds?:( Im literally disgusted by their behavior i really cant wait to lodge my compliant and hopefully get a decent outcome.

They are no doubt investigating the account for fraud or money laundering. By law they're not allowed to tell you this which is why you tend to get a variety of different reasons from front line CS staff.

Has there been any deposits from dubious or obscure sources recently?

When you get to the bottom of this please share with the users of the Forum.

Also, open a second account with another bank and use it to hold your £1000 emergency fund.

You must immediately make sure your employer pays your money into a different account. If for some reason you can't get a current account elsewhere, try the Yorkshire Building Society Cash Transactor

You should raise a formal complaint with Barclays, too https://www.barclays.co.uk/help/making-a-complaint/how-do-i-make-a-complaint-/

No housing association will evict for failure to pay the rent on one occasion unless you already have a suspended warrant in place and they are just waiting for you to default again.
Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

There must be a reason why its happened so get thinking.

When you get an answer let us know what it is.
  • Hmm, I had last used my account on the friday before to pay my rent as usual and i transferred some money into my other current account and that was the last time i had seen it functioning. I haven't received a letter through the post yet but i have rang customer service again today explaining that i had emailed proof of ownership of my funds as requested. He said i would have to wait 10 working days and call back then as he couldn't see anything on my account! it doesn't take 10 working days to receive an email and look at my wage slip from my employer that pays me every week! I also questioned why i was allowed take my wage out the following week and why this time its a problem he couldn't answer me im really not happy. I want to file a complaint immediately but dont think i should until i receive my letter.

As per Colston's post #4 immediately get your employer to pay your wages into this account.

Barclays obviously suspect something is not as it should be. If Barclays decide they don't want you as a customer they don't have to tell you anything.

That link is very out of date. Yorkshire Building Society discontinued the Cash Transactor account about two years ago.

You might never get any letter. Go and file that complaint now. That's assuming a resolution is urgent.
