Not that I intend to, but i think there is a cooling off period. Perhaps be good if someone could confirm this, for the sake of other readers.

Bad advice from House Martin because you have agreed to the terms of this tariff.

If you do not make arrangements to have smart meters installed by 31st July 2018 and be at home for the appointment, their terms state that you can be forced to choose a different tariff, and if you don't choose a different tariff within 30 days, they will move you onto their standard variable tariff.

Sound like a bum deal to me!

BG will always believe "the customer " over a meter fitter who knocks quietly and politely twice, then runs off to his next appointment. Possibly your TV was on too loud ! It could be at least 6 months before a meter fitter turns up. They work very slowly and are years behind schedule, You may not even get a visit within a year
.Its very common for BG to pay out compo for a fitter "no shows ".. If they report that they sat in all day and the fitter never turned up then they will accept this and pay out £30 compo at the same time and keep the T/C s intact for this tariff.
Or better still , just let them fit the smart meters. They are the best smart meters, Landis Gyrs/Siemens, accepted by all suppliers as dumb meters when you inevitably decide to move to some other supplier. Eon ( at the moment ) are cheaper anyway and just as reliable as BG
