NST March: Marching to a different beat

Reporting my first NSD today, dinner was "what's in the freezer" - apparently, all this NST meant "lots"
Most of our snow has gone now, even though the motorway is closed. If nothing else this weather is revealing how different life can be a matter of 20 miles away.
Nothing else much to report today - considering its been as manic as usual.

Not a NSD for me - a small spend on food, 50p on taxis (mum pays but I needed to top up as I went from little Arseda, further than my house). Did shopping for mum including 2 x 6 pints of milk, all the smaller bottles had gone (everyone laying in for a seige). Have added £10 to food spend as I need to top up my phone (only pay £10 which lasts about 3 months - mainly phoning for taxis for me and mum).
Snow gone for now (news was saying it is coming back this weekend) but a strong, bitterly cold wind. Unpacked all mum's shopping (I am ahead, she mentioned 3 things, all of which I had already bought - did a thorough stock check last week).
Also rearranged the wardrobes - mum's partner has been in a nursing home for nearly a year, so she has finally said she would (I would do the actual carrying) have more of her clothes in the wardrobe that was his and I have put his remaining things in the cupboards in the other room.
I have done several small jobs from my 'brain drain list' and have a larger job in mind to do this week (finishing a small project - well finishing the very last bit of a very small project). Have also earmarked getting the accounts in order as this month's job, because of moving things around, some invoices and receipts escaped (found one I have been searching for - in the accounts book). Then it will be ready for the end of the tax year - need to do mum's as well as she rents out her other house. Sorting out all the bits I don't need will take most time, mum now just hands everything over to me, I keep it for a bit and then throw unnecessary stuff (my definition of 'unnecessary' is expanding constantly). Really need to get to grips with the scanner (if it still works at all) and could scan all the stuff that will never be needed, but must be kept for a certain amount of time. Few accounts that need closing too - 1 of mine, 3 of mum's.
Today I am grateful for my panda hat, all my lovely layers, the taxi arriving promptly (more people using them because of the weather - could have quickly turned into a snowball outside little Arseda), for the Supervet, for no animals dying on tonight's programme (feeling a bit weepy, over tired I think), for the brain dump helping, for all the turtles. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Wow - I love reading all the posts on here. I am so inspired. Thanks for all the support. Sounds like we have all been busy. My heart was warmed hearing about someone helping out their neighbours and sharing meatballs - it's so lovely to hear how kind hearted you are!
Well, after feeling upset abt DH having to spend on dinner...the situ has done a complete 360! He rang to say he hadn't gone to wrk as company closed for safety. His manager picked him up in a 4x4 and brought him lunch, dinner was a £25 budget on the company, breakfast is a full english and £25 budget for lunch. So he's basically living the dream for free. He now says he won't need a takeaway for his treat sunday!
Todays wins :- washing clothes at 30 degrees, using the radiators/airer in front of the fire to dry a load of washing instead of the dryer ( since having a smart meter we discovered it costs £4 average per load), washing up tonights dishes instead of using the dishwasher ( £3 per wash), having another meal to add onto meal planner so 11 days worth of food planned and saving £15 that would have gone on takeaway.
Today I am thankful for - having a roof over mine and my childrens heads, central heating, this forum/thread and all you lovely supportive people in it, a phone signal to speak to DH and my Mom, my DH being treated like a king at no cost to us.
NSD 1/18. I did spend yesterday but used topcash back site to get 100% cash back on some childrens toilettries.
Hope you all have a good nights sleep and manage to stay warm - I have left my heating on low 16 degrees as its bitter and to stop pipes freezing up xI am now debt free:T - 20/03/18. Whatever your situation - just.keep.going!

Good Evening Turtles
Definitely a spend day today. Took my car into the garage only for my engine to cut out on a hill on the way up. Finally got it there after being beeped at & sworn at by a lot of cars behind me but my legs were literally knocking together I was so scared. The machanic thought he would start with "this might not be covered on warranty" & was being a bit funny with me but changed his tune when I started crying hysterically at him about the journey up here & how much I spent on that car not 12 months ago. anyway, long story short it was my fuel filter (not covered, of course) & that was going to cost me £100 but its due a service next month anyway so being as though fuel filter is included in the service I spent 267 on a service instead. Its sorted now apparently but who cares as Im never getting in the damn thing ever again:rotfl:
also got DS a new bed. this has been on my hit list for a while but also set me back 250 quid. oh & he needed a coat as his coat at the moment is fab for this weather butvis slight over kill for any warmer days.
anyway budgets been shot at.
1200 emergency fund
700 Paris
130 fuel
179 spends
I am off to hide under a duvet until everything stops breaking0
