O/S Daily Sunday 25th February 2018

This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, bright and sunny, but cold and frosty.

DH and myself up enjoying first peaceful cuppas, I'll be cooking a full english in a bit as DH and I are going out and won't be back until later this afternoon and we will have eaten, although will have missed a meal at lunchtime. Boys have a lasagna in the fridge for them to share which I made as an extra one on Friday. I will also need to get pack ups etc sorted for tomorrow so when we get back I don't have too much to do.

Dinner last night was spatchcock piri piri chicken, served with wedges, pork pie, salad and coleslaw/pasta salad - all eaten and enjoyed.

Back to work tomorrow - we'll see what this week brings.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting us off. Still no news of HOLLY so can only hope all is going as well as it can for her and she is back with us soon.

I have been up since silly o'clock reading. I started a new book on Friday and can't put it down. It will be finished this afternoon I think.

Just been peeling spuds and prepping other veg to get a head start on lunch. I fished some sliced beef and gravy out from freezer last night so no meat to cook this morning! I might make inroads into the ironing which got "overlooked" yesterday instead!

I got to M & S as planned to re-stock my fish supplies, courtesy of the Sparks offer. I think everybody had the same idea as me looking at all the fish items in other people's baskets! I averted my eyes from other stuff that might tempt me and went on to Fultons to see if there were any bargainous buys there to tempt me. Just some bbq ribs and cheese went in my basket.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for those who need them. Take care xx

    Good morning everyone.

The earlier baby pink and blue sky has turned bright blue. It’s going to be a cold one I think.

Last night I caught up with Shetland in bed. The pull of a heated bed is almost irresistible, I’ll be glad when the weather gets warmer and I can manage to stay up longer. I may well be a reincarnated dormouse!

Plans for today include another cake-making session and a MB Mexican Lasagna. And then some reading.

I hope everyone is doing well - happy Sunday.

    Morning All,

    Thinking of Holly.

Not posted for a few days in here. Thursday went with my DD for a spa session, in a hotel in the city centre where I live, it was a birthday present from her that was valid for use for 12 months, Finally managed to sort a time when we could both go. We both opted for a half hour back massage and it was wonderful. Then afterwards we upgraded to afternoon tea in the restaurant in the hotel.

My OH was 65 on Friday. He has taken a few days off work. Our DD came over to our house in the afternoon, then we all went for a meal in the evening with our D's OH to a restaurant the other side of the city, it was lovely.

Yesterday was checking moms house day and today myself and OH are going to visit my mom in the nursing home - he has not seen her for a while, and it is better for me to go today , as if the weather forecast is right then snow is making an appearance from Tuesday.

Back to work for me tomorrow - the week has flown by . It is only 4 weeks and 4 days until Easter.

Have a good day all x

Dormouse would be a step up . I think I was a sloth!!

Just about to have a shower and wash my hair and then get ready to get the ten thirty bus to York to meet two dds and sil for coffee.

Might have time to make leek and potato soup in the soupmaker before I set out and look out something from the freeezer like fish that I can bake for later.

I had better make some breakfast before I leave so I don't get tempted by a snack with coffee as I have rejoined slimming world and it is my first week. Meeting middle dd on Wednesday for a birthday trip out with lunch and shopping and will do my best to make a sensible food choice..

As snow is forecast for Tuesday this week I need to stock up on things like wholemeal bread, eggs, veg and fruit.

    Hugs to all

    Morning everyone,

Bright but very cold here, have been up since 6.30 but like TA have book that I can’t put down so only just getting around.
We are going to have bacon butties soon, followed by the Archers omnibus, someone on another thread has indicated that there is a surprise coming so will see!
There is chicken for lunch and then a trip over to see my lovely girlie, have upped her daily hay amount to compensate for the low temps but she has cosy rugs as well so should be fine.
Thinking of Holly and all with worries & cares.

Have a good day folks x

    Morning all

Its a bright beautiful day here but bitterly cold with a sharp wind, OH has his work clothes in the wm which can be hung out for a good blow, yesterday the washing was almost dry when we got it in just a quick 5 mins in the td finished it off, I love being able to dry outside.

We nipped into M & S food hall yesterday and got a YS smoked mackerel and gooseberry pate, we had it for a starter with some melba toast and it was absolutely delish, would not pay full price though but was lovely for a treat.

There is a huge pile of washing to go up, so I shall get various recipients to take it up to their rooms and I want to try and get my car hovered out and washed.

Right better get on have good days all xx

    Hugs to Holly xx
  • Morning All

And a beautiful morning it is too! Yesterday was cold, sunny with a slight breeze, great for getting the 4 loads of washing dry. I have the living room and bedroom throws in the machine, they can go out in a while.

DS1 is coming over later, I must address this 'elephant in the room', could be a short visit!

Hope you all have a fabulous Sunday. Take care. XX

    Morning girlies

Another beautiful day here ....calm before the storm maybe.

Not much planned today so will probably head out later for some fresh air and pick up some stuff ordered on line.

Going to tackle the year old ironing pile at some point although I need to decide if I really want to keep the contents now as I have clearly managed to survive all this time without needing them. I know there is a really lovely linen jacket in the pile which if i stare at long enough creases up all by itself and a denim shirt I have worn once and on washing discovered its ability to appear like a screwed up rag. Ironing appears very high up my list of jobs I cant be a***d doing for the simple reason there is always something more appealing to do. I have learned that if I hang clothes straight out the washing machine then no ironing needed :)

Made a big load of cottage pie in the slow cooker yesterday had some for dinner with red cabbage and brown bread and it was lush :) Today is egg for brekky then a turkey dinner later with some sprouts and red cabbage.

Time for my second fav chef Simon Rimmer now on Sunday Brunch and another pot of tea :)

Hoping Holly can get to a phone soon its so worrying :(

    Enjoy your Sundays everyone

    Morning all.

We slept better last night thankfully and I managed to close the window a bit without Grump noticing so I wasn't so cold.

Grump is moaning about his car again. Its Not big enough, fast enough, comfortable enough on long journeys, I've heard it a million times before. Fact is there's not a motor out there that will suit all his needs. His C5 came close but the garage had only got to look at it and it cost him £100. Truth is he spent nearly £1000 on that car in the short time he had it and most of it wasn't covered by the warranty.

Nothing planned for the day though I've asked Grump to get the clippers on the hounds. His arms are longer than mine and they sit still for him whilst they don't for me. I usually give them a good trim between clippers sessions but they are a bit beyond the scissors now. Shant be going mad though as they still need to be warm when they go outside.

Youngests 'friend' has gone back to her uni dorm of residence. Nice girl I dunno if we will be seeing her again.

Elona A baby girl congratulations! Although Diva is almost 8 months old, I'm still drawn to the pink stuff in the shops.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all
