Hi all.
Today I have received a letter from HMRC with the above title.
There has been no change to my circumstances and there is no other adults registered at my address or on my credit reports.
The letter does say that if I am confident my current claim is correct then I do not need to contact them.
I am just worrying that they have opened an investigation and I could potentially lose my tax credits.
Has anyone else received a letter like this?

Yes, lots of single people, so i heard. You only need to worry if you live with someone and haven't declared it. If you don't then don't worry.VodkaKnockers wrote: »Hi all.

So it's a fishing expedition?
Didn't think HMRC were allowed to do this0 -
No idea why HMRC are sending them out. I just heard there are. Like i said if your claim in geniune then don't worry about it.0

If the letter was to remind you to report any changes in income would you be concerned?0
-
Maybe.
I have read too reports of people being accused of living with a partner when they haven't due to tax credit having duff info.
One that stands out were a woman was accused of living with a partner, a Martin McColl. She lived in a flat above a shop which unsurprisingly was a Martin McColls.
I was under the impression that HMRC were not allowed to go on fishing expeditions which this seems to be0 -
If HMRC, or any other department, have reason to suspect that the information they have been given is not accurate they have a duty to investigate. That is not a fishing expedition, it's an attempt to detect potential fraud. If the information the OP has provided is accurate they have no need to be concerned.0

Doesn't sound like a fishing expedition to me.
Plenty of people have also been accused of living with a partner because they were.0 -
Just to be clear. I have DONE NOTHING WRONG.
I claim the minimum amount of Tax Credits to assist with childcare.
I am just concerned as I cannot afford to lose this income.
I was just posting to see if this was a mass lettering campaign or the start of an investigation.
Cannot get through to tax credits as the lines are constantly busy0 -
Then what are you worried about then?VodkaKnockers wrote: »Just to be clear. I have DONE NOTHING WRONG.

If it was the start of an investigation the letter would tell you that.0
