  • I am worried that they either have duff info or someone has made a malicious claim against me.

I am just managing at the moment. Losing that admittedly small amount will probably tip us into problems.

I was just trying to find out if this was a new mass lettering campaign or something else.

    Apologies for looking for advice

If your claim is geniune like i stated in my first reply then you have nothing to worry about. Your money will stay the same providing your circumstances haven't changed. Not sure what's so difficult to understand about that.

    I've helped Parliament
It was probably part of the DWP’s valentine message to claimants which they got slaughtered for on witter as it contained a link to a Daily Express article on benefit cheats.

Even potentially duff or malicious information has to be investigated. Sometimes it's clear very early on that there is no basis for the accusations and the person against whom the claim is made will hear nothing at all. If there are potentially grey areas, they are duty bound to look into it. Nobody is saying that you are lying, and assuming the information you provided is accurate your payments will not change.

Why would you think that someone reported you and even if it was, why would you be worried?

You say it yourself, you've done nothing wrong, by this I assume you mean that you are single, no ex in the horizon, or if you have a boyfriend, it is still early in the relationship and/or he is living totally independently somewhere else and you only see each other like boyfriends/girlfriends do.

If that's the case, why are you even thinking that it could go to the next stage of investigation? Relax, laugh about it, and put it behind you.
  • I can understand the OP's confusion, as the responses don't seem sure what it is either. Is this a letter that would be sent as a result of a report or compliance issue, or is it a letter sent out at random?

If it was an investigation, it would clearly state that. It would also explain what period it was for, what information was required, who to contact etc.

This is clearly just a standard letter issued on mass as a reminder or a nudge.

So the OP is right, it's a fishing expedition and a classic example of nudge theory.

TELLIT01's posts about it being an investigation are incorrect?
  • I too have received one of these letters. And mine also said i do not need to contact them if i was confident my claim was correct. There is no mention of an investigation but like original post i too wondered why i had recieved it. I know there is many that claim what they shouldnt, but there is genuine people too. It does scare you when you recieve these things and you rely on the help you receive to live even if your innocent!!
My question ia do i need to contact them or not the way the letter reads gives off different signals. Dont want to get me benefits stopped over a phone call... what would you do??
