Electrician won't give us safety certificate

  • This may be totally irrelevant to the OP’s situation, but someone in housing development told me today that more and more tradesmen, gas, electrics etc, are not renewing their registration because of costs.
    His plumber is no longer gas registered, so though he is fully qualified and experienced, any safety certificates he issues are invalid.

    If this plumber is carrying out gas work as he is no longer "qualified" he is breaking the law.

    It's simple, if a heating engineer is not Gas Safe registered then you don't use them. I've never understood why some people cut corners on there own safety by employing people who do not have the necessary qualifications.
    Likewise, any good electrician is not going to just sign off another person work! :eek:
    At the very least they would do major checks to see if all was well.
