Morning all
Very cold but bright here this morning I have a towel load in the wm which we will hang out later, dd probably has some washing to do too, but she can put her own in.
Judi I sleep with my window open practically all year its only if its noisy or particularly cold that I close it, so im afraid I agree with Grumps.
Big clean through this morning but it wont take long if we all get involved, and then OH and I will nip out and do the shopping for the week, we should not need too much as I think the freezer is quite full, we are going to have steak tonight with some duck eggs from work and chips, OH was given a very good bottle of red from a grateful customer so we will have that too.
Thinking of Holly xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who sleeps with the window open in this sub zero temperature....Grump says it's the only way he can sleep in our bedroom since we had cavity wall insulation as the room is too stuffy.
You're not the only one! I always have the window open slightly - there's nothing better than a lovely warm bed/duvet with the cold night air coming in!:TEverything will be alright in the end - and if it's not alright, it's not the end ........0 -
Morning, I have been pootling about since 4 and have not really achieved a fat lot. Do I care? Do I fishfinger.
It is really beautiful here but minus something and very cold, even indoors with the heating on. I am wearing a vest top, a fleece and a cardigan, velour trousies and very thick thermal socks, my hands are like ice.
OH has been to M*rrisons, he's got a cassoulet in the oven, the house smells of garlic, in a good way.
Judi, I always slept with a window open, even in the howlingest of gales but OH hates it so window gets closed. Last night I was very cold in bed, took ages to get to sleep, probably because I was too lazy to get up, put the light on and find warm socks. It is going to be just as cold tonight so I'll put socks on.
I have cancelled all my weekend plans as I'm still not at my best and do need to be at work on Mon, and I really can do without other people sneezing at me on the bus.
I really should be doing some ironing so I will just get on with some knitting instead.
Hope Hollyharvey is OKI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good... afternoon! All!
Apologies for not popping in during the week. I just find that after I get home from work, cook dinner, check my to-do list for the next day, that I just don't have the energy for anything else! But thank you for the lovely warm welcome you gave me last weekend.
It's been a busy morning for me as well. I went out early to do the weekly food-shop before the hoards, and was done by 8:30. There are few things I hate more than a rammed supermarket! I got myself my first little bunch of daffodils of the year, and I'll be pleased to watch them flower. Daffs are my absolute favourite flower. They are just so cheery!
Then I took myself to the garden centre and had a coffee, with my book for about 40 minutes. Since then I've unpacked the shopping and done some lesson planning for next week.
I also went to the Interflora website to order mothers day flowers for my mum. She lives in Shropshire, 2 hours from me, so I can't necessarily pop over with a bunch on the day... And while I was on the website I noticed they do a deal on free delivery for a year, for £10... Well, we lost my dad (mum's hubby of 40 years) unexpectedly in September, and I'd thought it would be nice to send her a bunch of flowers for those days I can't necessarily be with her, as we go through those remaining "first XYZ without dad". It'll be her birthday in early April, then their wedding anniversary, then fathers day, and finally his anniversary of passing in September. I'll easily make the £10 and then some back with those. So it seemed a sensible move.
On that cheery note... Nothing much planned for the rest of the day! The next move is to fold some washing, and reward myself then with a coffee!Because it's fun to have money!

Shout out for Holly thinking of you lots xx
Not quite sure where today has disappeared to. Beautiful day perfect blue sky and sunny ...not looking forward to the threat of snow next week hopefully that will miss us.
Usual Saturday stuff going on here befriending call then round to James' house of course:D
Nipped to Asda this morning first thing and it was heaven only about 4 people in there, needed some spuds for todays mammoth cottage pie cook off ...have to use up the mince stock I keep insisting on replacingAnyway should be plenty for mum and freezer stock although how on earth I will squeeze them in the freezer I have no idea (Dumpling can I borrow Steve please
)
House pretty clean bar the kitchen which is the usual post cook disaster so will sort that this avvy then do some serious decluttering of the planner. TA you made me giggle when you said there was some ironing from last week ........oops I have a basket load that has been sitting there since last year.....and I dont mean late last year eitherGuess I could get it done or I could watch will and grace ...mmm which to choose
Judi I have always slept with the window open and the radiator off ...nice at night but less enjoyable in the morning so a dash to the bathroom soon warms me up
Had a couple of slices of pizza last night with coleslaw and garlic breadProbably wont fancy cottage pie tonight but tough Ive made it so must now eat it
My fella made some cheese straws this morning which looked amaze so might have a crack later (of the straws that is....)

Afternoon all.
Late again. Never mind as this morning I have finished cleaning the upstairs, hoovered, dusted and the bedding has been changed and washed. I have remade the bed and the bathroom's done from top to bottom too :T. Didn't even try to hang the washing out as it would have been frozen before I could get back in ( and me for that matter  ). Not looking forward to next weeks freezathon although I am up to date with my gas and leccy. ( I still like to pay quarterly ) so if we have to have the heating on, we can.
Didn't have a very good night, I couldn't get comfortable and the old brain was whizzing around. Got back up at 2.30am for a cuppa, played a few games on the pooter, then went back around 4 am. Mr Fix It was complaining he was cold, there's a throw at the end of the bed he could have pulled up, but no he had to wait for me to do it.
I have fed the poor birds and the squirrels, I didn't know they would eat bread too. I also watched one of the cats lay in wait for a squirrel, she's got no chance. She likes to play hide and seek behind the smallest things, thinking that she can't be seen with her behind sticking out :rotfl:
I think I will just potter about this afternoon, peek at the rugby ( through my fingers, they do try their best ) and wander the web.
Tea tonight is a HM beef casserole ( I think ) and a small baguette, both found in the freezer yesterday when I was searching for something else.
Hope everyone is having a good Saturday.
Holly if you're reading I'm sending you lots of love and hugs.
Stay warm all and hugs to anyone who needs or wants one.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Afternoon - and what a glorious one it is too. The sea is all sparkly, the sun is trying its best, the skies are blue and white and the air is like brass monkeys.
I've had a busy morning for DM - she's misplaced her mother's gold watch and has been tearing out every drawer and cupboard both this morning and last night. She just forgets where she hids things and then gets very panicked by it. On the upside we came across her emergency stash of money so that's been re-hidden somewhere where I know.
There's wasn't much shopping for DM and I only bought bits and pieces. I want to try the chocolate cake again, this time the conventional way, it's not a difficult thing to make it's just that I haven't made one for umpteen years.
Right, I've got bags to unpack, birds to feed, tea to make, tea to drink and some telly to catch up on.
I hope everyone is doing OK - happy rest of Saturday.0 -
Long post lost, hugs for all, especially Holly,, hope that we will see you back soon.
Shopping done this morning in anticipation of snow and icy temperatures, 6c today, worst expected on Tuesday here, but who knows what will happen......we have oil, firewood and lots of food so most angles covered.
Keep safe and well

Afternoon all
Late one for me today. We took DD and DGS food shopping first thing this morning. OH dropped me off with our groceries then took them hone with their shopping.
I bought s minestrone fresh soup mix ys and cooked that up for lunch. DH hovered up two bowls . Lots of lovely vegetables consumed. Dinner will be hm chicken, leek and ham pie, mash, broccoli, carrots and peas.
After lunch I cleaned the floors and the bathroom and put some woollies on to wash. They will be dried around the house.
DH has cooked up the pie filling as I don't like preparing raw meat. It is just cooling before we put it in the pie dish. He is also prepping the vegetables. We take it in turns to cook meals and sometimes try new recipes together. We made crumpets last week. DH did them on the batstone as he is the king of the cast iron. His welsh cakes are legendary as was his father's before him.
Well that was my day so far. Keep warm folks and hugs and spoons all round. Thinking of poorlies and worrieds.

Giving my pc upstairs a wide berth this evening. The 'kids' are still upstairs. Grump has got his evening entertainment mapped out on the telly. I'll be content with making my own entertainment which consists of my phone, a pair of headphones and the desire to shut myself away....
