Bidder says I'm not connected to paypal

why bother. You make a bid and then retract it, job done and no drama.
If bidder A places a bid, the seller then gets their friend to place a high bid on the item then retract this bid.
This would then reveal exactly how high bidder A was willing to go and the seller can then use a shill bidder to bid up to just below that figure.
If you don't think that it's anything to worry about that's fine.
Other people who have posted on here after having their accounts suspended or closed when ebay suspect something dodgy was going on may well disagree with you.0 -
My own warning for 'off ebay selling' was merely due to a buyer that asked me to remove the 'immediate payment required' on a BIN item as he wanted to buy it and then come and collect immediately with cash. I removed the immediate payment and responded to the buyer to let them know they could go ahead and BIN the item - and that got me my strike. I understand that as few as 2 strikes now for this can get a seller restricted or banned, and I have no idea how long that first strike stays on my account. I now won't even respond to a buyer that asks anything about addresses, payment etc- terrible customer service of course but it's what ebay have forced us into.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This isn't about making the bid and removing it - the contact then is already made and eBay are linking at the most tenuous opportunity.
It isn't about how many people you know or not that have experienced anything, the fact of the matter is, eBay have and are continuing to clamp down. But if you don't want to believe it, that's absolutely fine. My post was not to disagree with you but to highlight to other people reading the thread that your opinion isn't the stance eBay are taking at the moment.
Like I said......it works for me. 600 transactions 100% later over many years and very few issues. That's my measuring stick, not others paranoia.
As I said before, my life just seems to miss all these..."what if's"
What people do after getting advise, is for their judgement.0 -

There isn't any paranoia. It's eBay policy which they seem to be rather heavy-handily applying.
To be frank 600 transactions over many years isn't too many. But if that's your yardstick and you aren't worried about linked accounts, policy breaches or being restricted/banned then that is fine.
As I said above, my comments were to highlight to those that aren't swayed by someone with "600 transactions over many years", to understand eBay have changed in the last few year (the last 12 months being the most severe).0 -

I'll paraphrase.
"You've got a problem I've never experienced so here's my view. If anything happens to your account afterwards its no skin of my nose."
There's no point in engaging directly with such quality help, it only encourages them.Originally Posted by shortcrust
