  • It's a Tory attempt to make the working man think they give a stuff about them, whilst at the same time reducing workers rights and benefit entitlement.

If any low paid workers think the Tories are on their side then please look at the way they treat those seeking work and the disabled. You'll be next, as you'll realise when you come under UC conditionality.

I have experience of both systems, under the last Labour government a relative who was near death with Cancer was refused any help. Under the Conservatives I have applied for PIP, it was quick, fair and I received good support. When I was in work my taxes were cut each year, and due to health problems I regularly use the NHS and have done since childhood, in my opinion it has improved dramatically over recent years.

I was brought up in a Labour household, but have and will continue to support the Conservatives, they have done a good job, and rather them than the treacherous Mr Corbyn.

I've just read the welcome pack - and although you need to be in receipt of UC, WTC or CTC to open an account, you can keep the account even if you subsequently stop receiving these benefits. You will still receive the bonus.

I opened one today - very easy https://www.gov.uk/get-help-savings-low-income/how-to-apply

Looking forward to my free money in 2 and 4 years.
I enjoy flower arranging, kittens, devil worship, the study of serial killers and their methods and road kill jigsaws.
  • Thank you.
I will apply tomorrow to open an account.
  • I have tried to apply and I’m not eligible as I’m not receiving working Tax credits.
  • Can two family members set up consecutive accounts with the help to save scheme?
