Honda Jazz gear box failure

I 'know' of a Jazz with a similar issue in my social circle. Turns out the person has been driving it for at least 2 years and the repair bill has been quoted around the £300 but not repaired yet.0

Has the gearbox oil been changed? I am not aware of the service requirements on the Hondas but a lot of gearboxes are supposedly "sealed for life" - strangely enough as they get older they can benefit massively from a fluid change.
If its not been done it should be a cheap job that might make a difference.
if the gearbox is making noises now it's probably too late to save by changing the gear oil.0 -
I would check the gearbox oil level, dip some wire into it. My guess is the garage did not bother as they did a quick diagnosis.When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Nietzsche
