Boot won't unlock
I have a 2011 Fiesta, a couple of months ago my boot would unlock while I was driving....this happened occasionally (maybe 3 times). I cleaned the lock and didn't have any more problems with it.
I tried to open the boot this morning and it won't unlock! I've tried locking and unlocking several times, and used my spare key fob....but nothing!
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

No idea! But is this anopther car without a manual unlock?
My Polo suffers from this and the only way to open it is from the inside. It's a known issue that the wires get flakey after a wile. I'm too stingy to take it to an auto electric place though as the boot door trim removal is a pain so high fees! The rear single seat is now the access to the boot as far as I am concerned.
Next car I expect a manual release! Never thought to check this time!0 -

You've probably already tried this but try opening the drivers door and then with it still open go to the back and try the boot. I had a similar problem with a 2010 Focus and that was the workaround for me. Strangely it went away when I changed the car battery a few months later.0 -

Thanks for your reply. No, there's no manual lock.0 -

Thanks for your reply. I've tried that, but unfortunately it doesn't work.0 -

When I had this issue with my Megane, the wire that goes from the body to the tailgate had broken due to its age and opening and closing numerous times.
I assume there is no lever that pulls a cable?0 -

Thanks for your reply. No, not as far as I'm aware. Was it expensive to repair?
I'm taking my car in for a service and mot, will ask them to take a look at it.0 -
There will be a manual way to open it from inside the boot, but the trim will have to come off.
My [STRIKE]Renault[/STRIKE] Nee-San is well known for the spindly thin wires breaking at the "flexible" rubber tube leading from body to tailgate.
There is a small lever on the lock body when you get inside the door.
Progress eh? In The Olden Days I used to push a small button on the bootlid, connected directly to the lock and it just worked.
Now I press a little switch, that sends a signal to a "computer" at the front of the car, placed where all the water and dirt can get at it, and if it feels like it, the "computer" sends a signal all the way back to the lock and opens it- you just know that something will go wrong..
I chuck everything on the back seat rather than open the boot nowI want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Thanks for that.
Had to use the back seat today for bags full of food shopping....not ideal! LOL!
Hopefully I can get it sorted without it costing a fortune.0 -

Way back in 1953 Standard-Triumph introduced the Standard 8 with a "dust and rainproof luggage boot". It had no external access, you had to fold the rear seat squab forward to access it. Perhaps this was too clever for some people as a year or two later the 8 Deluxe was introduced which had a normal external access luggage boot.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
