Stuey,
It really wasn't my intention to come across as harsh and I apologise if my post reads this way; as I said my response was in no way meant as criticism.
Unfortunately I didn't word my post as well as I might have done, and my intention was to reflect that once your children had found jobs they could start to contribute to the costs of living at home. I fully appreciate that having a full and part time job and caring for your oldest child means you're doing all you can and hopefully when the children find jobs they'll be able to contribute to the household and make up some of the shortfall when your child benefits end.0 -
If your children, who are now adults, can't find work they can claim Job Seekers Allowance and give that to you every week while they look for work.0

You say the middle one already is in work - how much keep do they pay you?The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

mgdavid,, nothing at the moment as I have said she can start paying when she finishes college officially, which is in a couple of months. In the process of working out how much that should be.0

jobs are not that easy to come by these days.0

There is less unemployment now than there has been for decades, so hopefully your adult offspring will be able to find jobs.
If they are having difficulty try, a CAP Job Club if there is one near you, they will equip them with skills to enable them to jobsearch more efficiently.

Meanwhile, take board from the one who is working and most of the JSA from the other one.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Whilst not in any way criticising the OP,who is working very hard to try to support his family, I think this is an example of Benefits given just for having children being far too much. People get used to relying on them.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

To be fair, it's not just about the benefits, maintenance is an issue as well. I have a daughter from a previous relationship whom I support and will do for the rest of her life. My Wife's children have only ever received mandatory payments from their father which will also cease as soon as they leave education.0

Is your wife the main carer for the special needs kid? Does she get support for being the carer? Definitely check if you are entitled to benefits.0
