Can you expand on that please?
Why? Your own experience?
Why is it worse than the views of those on a public forum with no background in employment law.
I'm not trying to pick a fight but if you are going to dig an organisation out it would help to have your reasoning.0 -

So why haven't they offered it a permanent?shaned1985 wrote: »Yeah, this isn't my first contract with the company. I've been here 7 years and this is my fourth contract. 1 year, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years. They last two have fallen in line with the length of the lease of the showroom.
It doesn't make any difference in reality, but after 4 years they need a valid business reason not to0 -
I think I need some specialist advice now. I really appreciate everyone helping. It's good to get other viewpoints, especially when the red mist has descended. In reality I was hoping for something as black or white as "He can't do that, law prohibits him" But I guess this kind of thing is rarely that simple.
I won't be relocating, nothing in my contract says I'm obliged. Whether that results in dismissal, redundancy etc. immediately or further down the line, is yet to be seen. However, I'll cross that legal hurdle when I come to it.
Thanks again, everyone.0 -
Do you have a non-compete clause in your contract? f so, then try to get that removed as part of any deal to 'go quietly'
If you are on fixed term contracts then it may be easier for them to simply not renew your contract if you don't move, rather than dismissing youAll posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -

Honestly, I have no idea. It's their standard practise will all of their showrooms. I guess that makes me naive regarding this kind of thing but that's precisely why I'm here!0 -

I do not have one, no. But good advice nonetheless!0 -
That is a dismissal, and the OP has the same rights as any permanent employee (after two years service)Do you have a non-compete clause in your contract? f so, then try to get that removed as part of any deal to 'go quietly'
