Yay, found it! Thank you very much AirlieBird - I hadn't even spotted those three little dots.
It has the DD there, whew! Setting up the PO Saver wasn't all that painful really, and it has filled the last hole filled by the Tesco DDs being cancelled next month. Thanks very much to everyone on this site who provided ideas for replacing the Tesco ones, it was much appreciated.0 -
I've managed to set up a DD today on my new Post Office without any problems. Thanks AirlieBird for pointing out how to find info on existing DD's, I tried everything apart from the 3 dots in the circle.0

Hmm, so I applied for Post Office Online Saver yesterday. They sent me an email asking me for two documents which I need to send by post, and, as if it wasn't pain in the neck enough, they want certified copies of it ! LoL.
I wonder how all those new challenger banks manage to do everything without any paperwork and doing everything online. Why old dinosaur banks can't do that? Sending certified copies? No way! Absolutely not worth the hassle... or is it?
Any other suggestions for savings accounts using DDs?0 -
Entirely up to you if you personally consider it worth the hassle but you're far from alone in experiencing this, their onerous ID verification requirements have been covered on many previous threads....SlovakianGuy wrote: »Hmm, so I applied for Post Office Online Saver yesterday. Setup one of these accounts about a month ago with no hassle whatsoever and no documentation required. My son aged 18 tried to set one up today and they want proof of ID, eg passport, and proof of address such as a utility bill, but he still lives at home and all the bills are in my name! On top of that, they want a cheque for the initial deposit and he doesn't have a cheque book. He'll be looking elsewhere.0

The fact that your son doesn't have any bills is likely to mean a thin or non-existent credit file, which is how PO (and other providers) verify applicants' ID, so it's not a surprise that it's an easy process for you but a harder one for him.Setup one of these accounts about a month ago with no hassle whatsoever and no documentation required. He may find similar ID verification issues when opening accounts elsewhere, although Post Office do have a bit of a reputation here, as referred to in my post immediately before yours....0
