Hello all, a slightly concering update, I can't get the sellers address.
Ebay won't offer it to me as I didn't purchase through ebay, and paypal are saying its a seller's private information "how would you like it if we shared your information" was the response from the extremely unhelpful agent on the other end of the phone.
Have I lost before the fight has even begun?
You won the auction on ebay correct? Therefore you have purchased through ebay and you are unable to pay him the money as he wont provide a way to do so (and then once you have his information you can go after the £500 you sent him outside of ebay).0 -
If you are determined enough to chase this a tracing agent may help. Prices start at about £20.0

Action fraud are in my experience a waste of timeLeft is never right but I always am.0

Does he have any other auctions? If so use somebody else's eBay account to obtain his address using deceitful tactics.0

Hi not sure if it is of much help but doesn't direct debit guarantee allow you to make chargeback without any questions asked? This may lead to your paypal account bein negative or paypal making the sellers acx negative...0

I'm sorry but there is very little you can do - you got scammed and have lost the money. Even if the police arrested them for fraud the chances of seeing that money again are slim to none.
If you have reported everything to action fraud then move on - there is no point wasting your time and put it down as an expensive lesson learned.0
