Carphone Warehouse Phone + Sim Only Contract Issue

I bought a sim free Galaxy Note8 for £769 and a £30 a month 12 month sim only vodafone plan from carphone warehouses website. I've since found a better deal for sim only with three which i will be going with.

Rang carphone warehouse to cancel the sim only contract part but they are saying its a bundle despite the phone being sim free and that i'd have to just cancel the whole order as there system doesnt allow a part cancellation. They are also telling me that the sim only contract is not with them but with vodafone (yet the direct debit details I filled in said that it would be CPW Direct Debits) and that i'd have to call vodafone to cancel the sim only contract.

I've rang vodafone and they are saying that within the first 30 days I should go to the reseller to cancel. At no point while ordering online was I even shown a page making it clear who my actual sim only contract is with. I had to accept terms and conditions for both CPW and vodafone.

I know under distance selling rules i have 14 days to cancel which im within but neither are accepting the cancellation for the sim only contract part. Im pretty sure if it is indeed with vodafone they must cancel it. Has anyone had expirience with this?

Carphone Warehouse will sell you a SIM free handset at a discount if you buy a sim-only contract at the same time. That sounds like what you've done and would mean that you would have to cancel the whole order.

The bank details you entered are for the credit check and or insurance.

I don't know how you would cancel this, sorry as it's quite a complicated purchase.

You remind me of the saying that says you can’t have your cake and eat it...

The phone is £869 sim free.

You’ve received a discount for taking the sim only contract with the handset, if you no longer want the sim only contract you will need to return the handset and then buy it again at full retail price.

Just noticed, it even shows you save £100 by bundling with a sim only contract on the Note 8 page at CPW.

I didnt see that "save upto £100" message. Nowhere on my emails basket or invoice is it saying im saving £100 due to doing this.

Doing more research looks like loads of people have done this on HotUkDeals.

Maybe that’s why they are referring you back to CPW, they’ve twigged to the loophole.
