Thanks for the reply. I can see why you might not use your card in specific circumstances such as you describe, but one poster above say they use android pay all the time and i was wondering why.0

I should add that i was wondering if i should start using android / google pay but cant see a reason as presumably i would have to carry the card anyway to use in case i bought anything over the limit (£30 ??) and meanwhile i would be telling google everything i spent0

Do those that use android pay need to upgrade to google pay or will it just merge by itself at some stage0

Ah so you shop at Morrisons to you that is very interesting that let's have a little analysis of what you spent... what paper did you buy if any do you have a dog or a cat or a baby... did you buy meat or just vegetables...0

Does Google get details about what items were purchased?
I flashed my More card at the checkout assistant, so I've already sold my soul to a devil. Morrisons now know what I purchased. :rotfl:0 -

That was me. A number of reasons. Nothing of major importance and of course I could always revert to using physical cards but it works for me as:
1. I like to keep track of my expenditure and using cards enables me to do that more easily than using cash. I enter transactions into my budgeting app every couple of days or so.
2. It means I do not need paper receipts (although of course you can ask for one if needed).
3. I prefer contactless to chip and pin and exchanging a token with a merchant is more secure than regular contactless.
4. I carry only one debit and one credit card in my wallet, leaving the others at home, but can use others if need be when out (except Barclays as posters above have observed – I am not going to change NFC defaults just to use a Barclays card).
Just my preference and I’m not suggesting this would work for everybody.0 -

There is no £30 limit on Android Pay (unless the retailer sets one). But surprisingly few people know this and I've had two occasions where the member of staff was surprised when i was able to pay for something over £30 using it.
Also google don't get details of the actual items bought they only know the retailer name and amount spent. But as one poster suggested that kind of analysis is carried out by the supermarkets when you use their reward cards and they certainly won't share that data.0 -
I prefer Samsung Pay - quite a bit slicker and initially came with a Costa Coffee bribe from Samsung. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
