It's got to be Brugges, it it so beautiful at Christmas with the markets and lights, horse drawn rides, ice skating rink in the square and you've just got to have the hot chocolate and chips from the stallsI haven't got one!0

I wouldn't visit Brugges for the Christmas market, but the city itself is definitely worth a visit (or two). We drove there, using Eurotunnel, and then drove on to Cologne which is definitely worth visiting for its Christmas markets. It's closer than you think.0

Does anyone know what the european markets in Manchester are like? Thanks0

Is there a bus to stansted where you are? I'm in Colchester, and always take the bus. It goes from the train station, the bus station and the university, every hour, (virtually 24/7) and takes an hour. cost £10 one way, £15 return0

No need to go far for a spikey frog, just saw some in a book shop in lancaster this afternoon.0

Nurnberg / Nuremberg Christmas market is fantastic - large, too.
Problem is Nurnberg is entirely unserved by budget airlines - last time I flew KLM via Schiphol, I think.0 -
If going to the Brugges markets make sure you park outside the city and get a shuttle bus otherwise its a nightmare!
I quite like the market on the Plaza Mayor in Madrid.0 -
I would recommend the Xmas market in Bath, it is particularly lovely once it has gone dark with the market in the courtyard of the abbey
BUT BEWARE .......
we attempted to go last year with a buggy and it was a nightmare, it gets really really busy and can be easy to miss alot of the stalls.
We went for a day trip to Birmingham and this one seemed much easier to get around with the stalls having much more space.
Good luck to anyone attempting them!!!0 -
We are flying over to Cologne with TUIfly in early December from Birmingham. They have six different types of Christmas Markets, with the typical tradional one being right in the centre around the Cathedral. Being German myself I can highly recommend this one, as there is something for everyone and cheap flights to boost!0
