I'm interested in finding out if there is any kind of insurance I can buy to protect my incoming Child Maintenance payments? I have read about getting life insurance against my ex, however I really want insurance against him intentionally defaulting too? Any information welcome! Thanks.

There used to be a site that did but I don't think there is any more. Probably got too many claims! I got mine registered in the magistrates' court. Can't remember if I had to pay for that now but it's much cheaper than going for an attachment of earnings order. I think they have to severely muck you around to get an attachment. That was a number of years ago now though and things change. I think some people think that's extra money in our pockets rather than desperately needed for food, school, clothes, etc.0

Maintenance Assist might still exist

Just a quick google brought these up.
Just remembered that the court ordered a friend to get insurance to cover his maintenance payments in case of death, job loss, critical illness. Not the same as defaulting though.
Personally, think maintenance should be automatically attached to earnings and the partner paying maintenance should have compulsory insurance in place to cover it.
After all, you can't tell your mortgage company or landlord that you can't pay this month but you can tell your ex that you can't contribute towards your child's upbringing causing them to default on their rent, etc. It should be as compulsory as the mortgage payment.0
