United Utilities - Wastewater Bill

Hi,

I've just moved in to my new home in Manchester. Received a letter from United Utilities detailing the upcoming bills for the year as they are fixed (no meter).

The wastewater side of the bill seems very high, wanted to see what the thoughts are of others. I plan to go to the neighbours and ask if they have the same rates (if also fixed).

Fresh Water: £267.09
Wastewater: 307.58
Total: £574.67

That puts your Rateable Value(RV) at £182. That is about average for a 3 bed semi.

You are paying for full sewerage i.e. with Surface Water Drainage(SWD) have you checked if you can claim relief from that charge if your surface water(gutters etc) goes into a soakaway and not the sewer.(ask neighbours). Relief from that charge would save £98.64.
