Phone the UC service centre number and ask whether the children have been verified.
What happens is that UC check a database to see if child benefit is being collected by the parents with the UC claim. If CB is noted and CTC is shown as being stopped, then UC will include the Children element on the claim. Also the Housing Element will be increased, if you are entitled to more bedrooms.
This can be resolved quite quickly I hope with a phone call. Both the Children and Housing elements can be backdated to date of entitlement, with any extra money processed to your Back account the same day this is resolved.
Nb. The person you talk to on the phone may have to pass a message to the DWP case handler for your claim and it may take 48 hours for this to be resolved by them. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
