noise still there even when internal mains is off.
  • Absolutely mental this one...... All the most likely/obvious causes have been ran through by fellow members, as a Scot I don't get why you don't have a "water meter" as aren't these standard in every property in England & Wales due to it being all private sector managed?

Nah, many of us pay a charge based on the 'water rates' of yester-year :)

Does everyone have a water meter north of Hadrians Wall?
  • We once lived in a house where you could hear water running if neighbours either side and beyond flushed their loos during the night.
  • No one has a water meter in Scotland. We pay extra on our council tax to cover it.

I pay £121 a month for a band C property and this includes water and waste etc.

My water meter isn't actually visible / accessible in the house - I believe it's underground outside and read remotely from above by the water board.

Ours is the same, you can read it if you go down on your hands and knees and use a torch but the water board just scan it for a reading, not to keen on turning it off/on as not a great fan of spiders!

update - had the water board out - its a leaky mains valve supplying the house. The valve pit is full of water and will be replaced by the water board at no cost to me (phew!) although means they will have to dig up the drive.

Great news reference the cost,i am sure they will re-instate your drive as you will inspect it following the repair:D
