Thanks for all the comments..hopefully some of the critical ones were a bit tongue and cheek. I have cared for my grandparents and parents for over 25 years so I certainly wouldn't be shoving my mum into a garden shed !... she is 95 but all her family lived into the 100's and at the moment she is healthy and looks/acts like an 80yr old.
Anyway I will take all these comments into mind and do some further research.
cheers
I understand that you are trying to think through various options and seeing advice. That is what the forum is for. Thankfully most people contribute in a relevant way and offer practical advice. It is unfortunate you have been subjected to a few ill informed judgemental comments.
I don't think the outlay of providing a lodge to the level of comfort you would want your Mum to live in would make it cost effective, you may as well stay put or if wanting to move go to a property that can have downstairs rooms converted.0 -

The fact that my opinion does not correspond with yours, is of no concern.
Where did I say you needed my permission?
You are as a fact being very judgemental. But of course, you must already know that yourself so I apologise for stating the obvious.0 -

Have you heard the phrase "offended for the sake of feeling offended"?
You seem to make a habit of it ...0 -

Not offended, but feeling the need to defend the OP in two cases today (after 10 years on the boards). Is that what you call a habit?!0
