Off grid living

In the past people didn't get away with building off grid with no planning, but in the future it's looking more likely to get away with it for the four years needed to get right to remain or lawful development.
Just saying....0 -
One change I've noticed on my council's web site is a convenient form to fill-in if a breach of planning is suspected. I've already used it.
Just saying....
We have a box for grid reference, and photo upload ability too...:D Not used it myself, but I know a lady who has!
I can confirm, having had a farmhouse in Ireland too, they are no more lax over there, and the craic would never allow it.
How about Scottishland? I'm sure they must be inebriated yokels who never notice anything.... No? What a surprise that satellites work there too!0 -
As someone who lived "off grid" for a few years this thread is interesting in that it seems to be all about "how can I get out of paying taxes, obeying the law etc. When I was doing it we had a small community of caravans, mobile homes, sheds and lived by an old quarry surrounded by woods. We didn't have much money, sold eggs, kept pigs, never registered them, and did odd handyman jobs to survive.
BUT it is a young man/woman's place. When children are of school age you need to get a proper job, pay taxes etc. Plus you need to prepare for your retirement or are you expecting everyone else to pay for it???0
