WTC and Dentistry

Am I able to get help with paying for NHS dentistry as I am receiving working tax credits? I receive no other benefits.

    Thanks for the link Tellit01,

From reading that link it appears I am not eligible for help with NHS dental costs as there is no disability element to my WTC.

"you qualify if you get Child Tax Credits, Working Tax Credits with a disability element (or both) and have income for tax credit purposes of £15,276 or less"

And as luck would have it a crown came out while flossing yesterday :)

Have you looked at the NHS low income scheme?

It may be that you are eligible under this scheme.

Thank-you for the link pmlindyloo, I had a read of the HC1 form.

I do qualify as my savings are low but they require tax accounts and as I only started self employment in January I do not have any accounts.

Telephone their customer enquiry line (on the form under the self employment part) and see what they say.

    Thank-you pmlindyloo,

I did call the number and spoke to a helpful lady who explained what information I need to include in section 9 regarding my self employment.

I will download the form, fill it I'm and post it off.

My dentist charged £9.36 to refit my crown but in Scotland we have a different charging system.

Would you mind telling us what information you will have to provide regarding when just starting self employment?

It may be useful for someone else.

Pretty cheap to refit a crown thankfully, if however you lost it then very expensive.
    It's nothing , not nothink.

I was told to write down my gross earning since starting self employment and take away the cost of tools and materials.

That way they can see my earnings and decide if I am eligible for help or not.
