Proof Of Posting and Tracking Query

Bought an item on eBay a couple of weeks ago, Still showing as awaiting dispatch in my eBay, chased last night and had message saying 'it was sent a few days ago but we forgot to update eBay'

eBay this AM states parcel dispatched, along with odd looking tracking number, this tracks as delivered Wednesday 14th to 'myself or a neighbour'

It was sent to work, where we have reception cover 8am-8pm. Checked today in person and no parcel waiting for me.

Been told by RM the 'tracking' is a proof of posting number but was unable to offer any other details as the 'number' is a reference and not tracked?!

Really confused by this - Can anyone help? Am very worried I'm about to lose my money :(

Sounds odd. There are two conflicting statements: tracking shows delivered; and RM's comment that the number is proof of posting but not tracked.

Go back to the seller, explain the situation and see what they say.

Yes - States that the item was delivered to me - or a neighbour - by the local delivery office

Have done the obvious and checked with the neighbours!
  • How the delivery appears on website

    Delivered

    Tracking no. XXXXXXXXX

Your item was delivered to your address or a neighbour on 2018-02-14

    Service used:2nd Class Parcels

If your item was delivered to a neighbour, we'll have left a card at your address to tell you which one it's with.

  • A bit strange. Call the seller and have the code checked. It should not appear as delivered since you havn't received it. If it was the neighbors' then they (courier) should have not given the package to your neighbors without you prior written consent.

Royal Mail can and do deliver to neighbours. Unless addressee has opted out.

The issue isn't whether or not RM should have left with a neighbour - it was the failure to leave a card confirming where the item was left that has created the real problem. See if the seller will help to locate by contacting RM - and even if the won't, you have a legitimate beef with RM, so contact them and complain about the lack of a card.

But the OP has no idea if it has been left with a neighbour or not. That is the standard wording.

I would be very interested to know what RM do in such cases where it is shown as delivered but with no signature and yet the intended recipient says they have not received it.

Isn't that exactly the point - RM will have to explain the lack of a card.
